Resurrection Radio Podcast

Episode: “Joshua, Canaan, and Faith”

Introduction

Good afternoon! My name is Eduardo. This is Resurrection Radio Podcast. I am your presenter. In the previous episodes we spoke of the encouragement in Isaiah so we can understand that even through the difficulties there is encouragement by GOD Almighty. This is by seeing the prophecies of the future and being able to understand that GOD Almighty cares for His individuals. GOD Almighty cares for faithful believers. GOD Almighty loves faithful individuals like David so much that when there are individuals after David that act righteously, they are remembered like David. We are reminded of the need to be faithful to GOD Almighty because GOD Almighty cares about those righteous individuals.

The Promises of GOD Almighty of Abundance

We see how everyone abounds in David's time and in Hezekiah's time. We know that through King Jesus Christ we are freed from sin and have eternal life. We know that through the lineage of the tribe of Judah is the continuation of the promises of GOD Almighty. We learn that it is not only the lineage but the manner that GOD Almighty can give abundance and blessings to those individuals that are righteous. Righteous individuals were going to have great things if they remained in believing in GOD Almighty.

There had to be faith. There is faith needed to acknowledge GOD Almighty. GOD Almighty acknowledges our faithfulness. Like David, like Abraham, like Isaac, and like Jacob, like the Levitical priesthood in the times of Moses and those individuals that believe in GOD Almighty are given so much, but they need to continue having faith. When we read about the things that were happening in Moses' time, going back to the understanding of the promises of GOD Almighty to Moses, we learn of the goodness that they receive through faith. From the time of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to the Twelve Tribes. Israel begins to grow. The different tribes grow because of the faithfulness. They grow in number. They are mighty. They are given favor by GOD Almighty.

The Name of Jesus in the Books of Moses

We know that when they make it to the Promised Land, Moses hands off the leadership to Joshua, This is telling us of a future time when the Levitical priesthood was going to be a predecessor to the eternal high priest King Jesus Christ. The king of the lineage of the tribe of David was going to be like David and it is King Jesus Christ. Moses hands authority and leadership to Joshua. Joshua means salvation like the name of Yashua, the name of King Jesus Christ in Hebrew. This is the reminder of eternal salvation. We know that when the people of Israel and Joshua go through the land, GOD Almighty is able to work all things for the good of the people of Israel as long as they believe in GOD Almighty.

Sometimes when people are not faithful to GOD Almighty and do not believe in GOD Almighty, there are difficulties. When they believe in GOD Almighty, they have faith in GOD Almighty. That is when they continued abounding and moving forward. They received the Promised Land. That is something that we know. That is something that happened in history. Those promises of GOD Almighty, they are part of history. We know about the nations that surrounded Israel at that time. We know that Israel is there in today's time. Being able to understand that too.

At the time of Joshua, Joshua has to renew the covenant with the people because the people were acting faithlessly and acting in a manner that was not conducive to the worship of GOD Almighty. Joshua had to remind the people of the need to worship GOD Almighty in order to obtain the promises of GOD Almighty.

Reminding Ourselves of the Commandments, Statutes, and Sabbaths

“Then Joshua built an altar unto the LORD, the God of Israel, in mount Ebal, as Moses the servant of the LORD commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses, an altar of unhewn stones, upon which no man had lifted up any iron; and they offered thereon burnt-offerings unto the LORD, and sacrificed peace-offerings.”

We learn that they go up to a mountain where they are able to write the commandments to remind the people of the belief and the faith. This is to remind themselves of the things that Moses had stated them to do.

“And he wrote there upon the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he wrote before the children of Israel.”

They remember the Ten Commandments.

“And all Israel, and their elders and officers, and their judges, stood on this side the ark and on that side before the priests the Levites, that bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD, as well the stranger as the home-born; half of them in front of mount Gerizim and half of them in front of mount Ebal; as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded at the first, that they should bless the people of Israel. And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessing and the curse, according to all that is written in the book of the law. There was not a word of all that Moses commanded, which Joshua read not before all the assembly of Israel, and the women, and the little ones, and the strangers that walked among them.”- Joshua 8: 30-35

We have to remind ourselves that these are the things of GOD Almighty. We have to pay attention to the word of GOD Almighty so that our actions, intentions, and words are all praising GOD Almighty. We learn that we have to remind ourselves of the commandments, statutes, and Sabbaths by placing the word of GOD Almighty like frontlets between our eyes. This is to have the word of GOD Almighty in our mind. We are going to be positive, speak good words, make great decisions, and have good intentions, instead of not saying things that are not helping. What we have to look for is to continue reminding ourselves of this. In that time, they reminded themselves of the Scriptures. In this time, we remind ourselves of the Scriptures.

There is a big difference between the time of Joshua and Moses and the time that we live in. There were still other belief systems and other philosophies in the world that tried to make them not believe in GOD Almighty, not trust GOD Almighty, and not follow the word of GOD Almighty. Joshua reminds the people of the need to follow the word of GOD Almighty. This is what Joshua had to do to have leadership and remind them of GOD Almighty. Joshua reminded them to continue the Ten Commandments, have faith in GOD Almighty, and to glorify GOD Almighty. Through that, they can continue. They are reminded of this.

Why was this needed? This was what Moses had instructed them to do previously. We know that they are instructed to do this based on the belief in GOD Almighty. Based on the faith. Not religion. Religion can help the faith, but faith is needed. They need to have faith in GOD Almighty. There were instances when they were not able to defeat some nations because of unfaithfulness or sin. As soon as they began to believe in GOD Almighty, everything abounded. Everything functioned. There is that constant reminder to have faith in GOD Almighty. The promises of GOD Almighty are true and eternal and they are true. They are eternal like the promises of King Jesus Christ of the time in the future when King Jesus Christ will provide eternal salvation and will provide inheritance of the land. King Jesus Christ will provide great rewards because of difficulties for the name of King Jesus Christ. We know in the Book of the Prophets in Joshua's time, in Genesis all the blessings and good things that the people of Israel were able to have with faith.

If they followed the belief in GOD Almighty over the things of this life, they would have great things. The things of this life only attempt to lead astray from the things of GOD Almighty. The lies do not help and do not allow us to express our belief. We need to have the Spirit of Truth to have the Spirit of Discernment to know what is truth and what is not truth. If we know what is of GOD Almighty, we do not have to be afraid and fear or be anxious. We have to keep going and believing in GOD Almighty even through the difficulties in the world, we are reminded of the time of Joshua. GOD Almighty is able to provide and lead us even in these times.
