Prophecy of Damascus, Syria
| Olives representing the remnant of believers stated in Isaiah 17: 6 |
There are some prophecies that have already happened. Other prophecies have not happened. The prophecies of the Millennial Kingdom of King Jesus Christ have not happened yet. They are going to happen when King Jesus Christ returns. There are specific prophecies that have happened already.
The prophecy of Damascus, Syria. This has already happened.
“An oracle concerning Damascus. Behold, Damascus will cease to be a city and will become a heap of ruins. The cities of Aroer are deserted; they will be for flocks, which will lie down, and none will make them afraid. The fortress will disappear for Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus; and the remnant of Syria will be like the glory of the children of Israel, declares the LORD of hosts.”- Isaiah 17: 1-3
Correction: There will be a remnant in Syria of faithful believers. There will be righteous individuals who will be protected and will have eternal salvation. We know that GOD Almighty issues justice but also protects the righteous. We learn that there is a remnant of Syria. We also learn from the Scriptures that there will be those that were scattered and exiled from all over the world to be able to return to Israel when King Jesus Christ returns. We learn that King Jesus Christ loves every Christian believer from every language, ethnicity, and country for accepting King Jesus Christ as LORD and Savior.
Israel's Idolatry
![]() |
| (Left) Israel at the Height of the Kingdom with faith in GOD Almighty through David. (Right) Israel divided after the idolatry of Solomon. |
At the time of Isaiah, 740 B.C., is a time when the people of Israel were going through idolatry. They were going through difficulties. We know that at this time, there are two kingdoms of Israel. The Northern Ten Tribes of Israel and the Southern Two Tribes of Judah. We know that distinction. We know that formerly Judah was a united kingdom with Israel in the time of David but because of the idolatry of Solomon, it was split into two parts. GOD Almighty honors David by letting the Southern Kings of Judah to have a throne in Judah as long as they are faithful to GOD Almighty.
In Isaiah's time, Isaiah is prophesying to the Northern Ten Tribes of Israel who are involved in idolatry. The Northern Kingdom of Israel was going to go through an attack of the Assyrians because of their idolatry. The Assyrians attack Israel and cause it to have difficulties.
Usually when I say exile, this is referring to the Chaldean exile where there are difficulties for the tribes of Judah and Benjamin. The attack from the Assyrians cause a scattering for Israel. Israel starts practicing idolatry sooner and has difficulties sooner. Israel sees the example of Solomon, and they begin to practice idolatry. Those in Judah and Benjamin are seen as a remnant who do not pay attention to idolatry and do not pay attention to idols. They destroy and rebuke idol worship and keep their faith in GOD Almighty.
The priests of the north truly cared about professing their belief and have their calling fulfilled. This is the worshiping of GOD Almighty and atoning for the people's sins, they go from the Northern Tribes to the Southern Tribes because the Southern Kingdom accepts them. They give them that possibility to continue laboring for GOD Almighty. Those in the northern kingdoms had grown hostile to belief in GOD Almighty because they were practicing other belief systems. This is why Judah maintains itself in security, peace, and stability for a longer period of time until there is idolatry.
We know that Isaiah states in his ministry in 740 B.C. 18 years prior to the time that Israel goes through the Assyrian invasion. That is what Isaiah prophesies and that is what happens. There is an Assyrian invasion. We learn that the Southern Kingdom does not go into difficulties when they are righteous. When the Kingdom of Judah practices idolatry, they go into exile after ignoring Jeremiah's extensive preachings against idolatry and sin [Jeremiah's Persistence Podcast]. The Chaldean exile is judgment by GOD Almighty for sin.
Prophecies Fulfilled
| Mount Zion in Jerusalem |
There are specific prophecies within Isaiah that have happened. We know that they are true because they have already happened. We know in Isaiah's time, the people were preached on the need to have faith and hope in GOD Almighty. We who have already seen Scripture realized, see that these are the specific prophecies that let us know that GOD Almighty is the One True GOD. The prophecies tell us of GOD Almighty's favor for faithful believers. We know from all the things stated, that Israel exists, Jewish people exist, Christians exist, and Jerusalem exists and this proves to the existence of GOD Almighty and also that GOD Almighty is just. This tells us that GOD Almighty decides history.
While there may be iniquity and corruption that are not good, we know that GOD Almighty is just and decides when to issue justice. That is what we learn about Damascus. There was going to be a time that it was going to cease to be a city and become a heap or ruins. What have we seen in the past years? That is what has happened. Again, this happens because of sin. There are specific individuals within those cities that have a belief system of Christianity or Jewish belief system. They are the remnant of believers. There are other belief systems. Belief systems of the world that cause us to hate individuals. If you are Jewish hate Arabs. No! If you are Arab, hate Jewish individuals. No! They can have other belief systems, but we are to preach to them the Gospel so that they can have eternal life. That is what we want. We want those that are lost to have eternal life. That is the purpose so that they can have eternal life.
There is that false belief that because you are Jewish, you have to hate the Arabs. No! If you are Arab, you have to hate the Jewish individuals. No! It is a waste of time. A waste of energy. Or because you are a Christian, hate the Catholics. No! Because you are Catholic, hate the Christians. No! It is interesting the illogical hatred of the world. There is sin that leads to destruction. This is not arbitrary. There is a reason why there is judgment. This is usually because there is sin and because there is oppression against the righteous.
