Episode: “The Book of 1 Samuel, the Birth of Samuel, and Hannah's Prayer”
Introduction
Good afternoon! My name is Eduardo. This is Resurrection Radio Podcast. I am your presenter. We spoke of the Book of Judges, the Book of Joshua, and the Book of Deuteronomy in order to understand the timeline of the events that were happening for the people of Israel during the specific entry into the Promised Land. They were able to enter the Promised Land through Moses and Joshua. Moses leads the people to the Promised Land and Joshua takes leadership. This meant the continuing of the faith in GOD Almighty to accomplish great things.
Difficulties in the Promised Land
GOD Almighty tells Moses that once the people enter the Promised Land, they were going to have so much that they were going to forget GOD Almighty and make idols. Idols that were going to lead the people to commit idolatry and difficulties. We learn in the Book of Judges that there are difficulties. We did not read the whole Book of Judges because there is so much in the Book of Judges concerning the main idea of the book is the difficulties that were happening once GOD Almighty was providing for them and they go and conduct idol worship.
The people believe other belief systems and they would have difficulty from those belief systems. Idolatry and false belief systems cause difficulties. GOD Almighty would raise judges to allow the people to be freed from the difficulties that they were having with specific nations. We learn about the difficulties that the people were having with the first Judge who was helping them from Mesopotamia. Mesopotamia was allowed to cause difficulties to Israel because they were not worshiping GOD Almighty.
GOD Almighty knew there was idol worship and idolatry. As soon as they have a leader in the first judge, GOD Almighty allows the Spirit of Truth to be in that individual so that they can improve from the difficulties that they had. They are no longer having difficulties and they are led spiritually. This is not only because of the difficulties. We see this again in the New Testament similar when they had they Roman scattering or the yoke of Rome, it is the same thing. There are difficulties with Rome and difficulties with Mesopotamia because of sin.
There may be difficulties that are seen but then believing in GOD Almighty allows for improvement. We learn that there are other judges and other nations that cause difficulty against Israel because of the sins that were being committed. We know that there are other judges that are raised up by GOD Almighty to help the people of Israel. This is a reminder that GOD Almighty has mercy. GOD Almighty gives mercy. That is the mercy of GOD Almighty in the Book of the Prophets. That they are allowed to be freed and to have freedom and to have the help of GOD Almighty. GOD Almighty being gracious and merciful and there being faith.
Judges Raised to Remind the People of Israel of GOD Almighty
We read about Samson who was the last of the judges. Samson was another example of how Samson delivers the people from the Philistines. The main idea is the same. The people were committing idolatry and when they returned to GOD Almighty through the judge, they would return to have good things. There would be no difficulties. Again, they would forget GOD Almighty and they would have difficulties. We read the Book of 1 Samuel. We read about Samuel the prophet. Samuel is mentioned as a judge. I think he is a prophet.
The Judges Remind Us of King Jesus Christ's Salvation
If Samson was the not the last judge it was Samuel. Samuel was also a prophet. This is prior to the start of the kings of Israel. There is that timeline. The prophets of Moses and Joshua and that leads to the Judges. GOD Almighty raises up Judges because they kept on forgetting GOD Almighty. They were raised up to cause the people to repent from their sin and believe in GOD Almighty. Another representation of GOD Almighty providing salvation through the judges. Another representation of the future King Jesus Christ providing salvation and eternal salvation. King Jesus Christ is the ruler for all eternity. When King Jesus Christ returns, King Jesus Christ is going to judge and decide specific things. Those judges speak of King Jesus Christ. Righteous individuals who serve as a representation of what King Jesus Christ was going to accomplish. We have the reminder of Joshua and the name that means salvation like Yashua.
There is the specific representation that they were being build up through faith in GOD Almighty and King Jesus Christ. How do we know this? GOD Almighty says in the first judge that he had the Spirit of Truth to allow them to discern the truth. We talk so much about GOD Almighty and King Jesus Christ and the Spirit of Truth. How the Spirit of Truth guides us to continue and believe in the things that are truthful. The things that are eternal. The things that are of GOD Almighty. The things that are real. The things that are based on reality. Not the false perceived perceptions, false belief, temporary lies, deceit, falsehoods. It is none of that.
That is not what GOD Almighty wants for us. There are difficulties or changes because of the lack of faith or because the people do not want to believe in GOD Almighty. So there is that change. As long as they are with GOD Almighty, they have everything they need. We learn about Samuel how Samuel anoints the kings of Israel when GOD Almighty decides to provide kings. They give them kings because the people were wanting a king.
The Birth of Samuel
I had not read the beginning of Samuel. We learn that Samuel is born so much similar to the manner that John the Baptist was born in the time of Jesus Christ and how Isaac is born. This is similar. GOD Almighty reminds us of the workings of GOD Almighty through the faith of faithful individuals. We read that Samuel's father had two wives and that from the two wives one of them is similar to the story of Jacob. One was loved and did not have children. She pleaded to GOD Almighty. She went to praise GOD Almighty so that she can have a child. Samuel is born and is a righteous individual.
Samuel is consecrated for GOD Almighty and is a righteous individual. Samuel leads Israel to glorify GOD Almighty. Because of Samuel, the people are able to defeat the Philistines. There is the insistence like Moses like Joshua making sure that they glorify GOD Almighty above everything. If they glorify GOD Almighty above everything, they are able to defeat their enemies, they are able to have the Promised Land, to have abundance in the land, they have peace, and rejoice. They have everything. When they are not faithful to GOD Almighty, the people of Israel have difficulties through the Philisitines.
The Difficulties of Israel Due to Idolatry
This is similar to the difficulties that existed because of Mesopotamia. How Rome caused difficulties. The Chaldeans caused difficulties. The Philistines caused difficulties. GOD Almighty was going to allow nations to remain and not allow the people of Israel to defeat all the nations because GOD Almighty knew that the people would not believe and practice sin. What happens? GOD Almighty leaves the Philistines and a few other nations so that when they decide to commit idolatry, those nations cause difficulties for the people of Israel. We read that part of Samuel that talks about King Saul and King David and the Philistines. We learn that when Israel is worshipping GOD Almighty over everything, there are no difficulties and the nations are subdued. We read that David is able to allow Israel to increase in a manner that had not been seen in the past due to righteousness. We learn that the enemies of Israel do not cause difficulties because GOD Almighty fights for David and Israel. We did not really get to talk about the birth of Samuel.
