Episode: “The Book of Chronicles, King Joash, and Reformation”

Introduction

Good afternoon! My name is Eduardo. This is Resurrection Radio Podcast. I am your presenter. We spoke of the Book of 2 Chronicles that spoke of the specific kings of the kingdom of Judah. We learn that as long as the kings are being righteous and following the word of GOD Almighty, everything would abound. Everything was going to work out. The kingdom of Judah was going to have prosperity, and they were going to be able to persevere. As soon as there are wicked kings in the kings of Judah, there are difficulties.

The House of David Protected Through the High Priest

We do know that even through those difficulties, the descendants of David are able to persevere. King Joash is able to be saved through the priests. King Joash is saved by the people of Judah in order to secure the manner that they would still have the kings from the lineage of David. They are able to protect Joash and cause him to become king. For those that had rebelled against the house of David, they were defeated and not allowed to persist because of the sins and the wickedness that was happening.

We know that there is a specific understanding from the priests to persist in the purpose of GOD Almighty. We learn that there are reforms made in the land of Judah to prevent idol worship and to allow for the worship of GOD Almighty. The priest that allows for all of this to happen is the High Priest Jehoiada.

“And Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, and all the people, and the king, that they should be the LORD’S people. And all the people went to the house of Baal, and broke it down, and broke his altars and his images in pieces, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And Jehoiada appointed the offices of the house of the LORD under the hand of the priests the Levites, whom David had distributed in the house of the LORD, to offer the burnt-offerings of the LORD, as it is written in the Law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, according to the direction of David. And he set the porters at the gates of the house of the LORD, that none that was unclean in any thing should enter in. And he took the captains of hundreds, and the nobles, and the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king from the house of the LORD; and they came through the upper gate unto the king’s house, and set the king upon the throne of the kingdom. So all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet; and they slew Athaliah with the sword.”- 2 Chronicles 23: 16-21

We are reminded that the priests are able to function in a manner that they again make sure that the lineage of David perseveres on the throne. The priests and Levites obey the purpose of GOD Almighty for their lives. They make sure that King Joash is king after the lineage of David. There is that difficulty that we read about the lineage of David. King Jehoram who had destroyed his own brothers in order to prevent the lineage of David to persist. This was because of the daughter of Ahab that led Jehoram to practice iniquity. This was not good for the people of Judah.

We learn that the people have to rebuild again based on the reforms of the new kings. Jehoiada takes leadership and makes sure that the people renounce idol worship, and the people begin to worship GOD Almighty. The Levites and priests made sure that the specific offerings and incense were gathered to offer to GOD Almighty in the temple. The Levitical priests make sure that there is organization so that the word of GOD Almighty is obeyed under the direction of the chief priest Jehoiada to make sure that they secure the kingdom. King Joash says that he was only a child but was able to start deciding for specific things that were going to allow for the proper worship of GOD Almighty. Initially, this is described as a positive event because of all the difficulties that had happened.

There is an interesting distinction to note that King Joash is considered righteous at the beginning, but we know that there are difficulties that begin to happen when he begins to forsake the word of GOD Almighty. GOD Almighty provides for the lineage of David to persevere. Where there was wickedness, there is no longer wickedness. There is a restart that allows us to see that individuals have to persevere in righteousness in order to have the favor of GOD Almighty. Everyone has to persevere in righteousness and this allows for the kingdom of Judah to prosper, abound, and increase.

“Joash was seven years old when he began to reign; and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem; and his mother’s name was Zibiah of Beer-sheba. And Joash did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD all the days of Jehoiada the priest. And Jehoiada took for him two wives; and he begot sons and daughters.” 2 Chronicles 24: 1-3

King Jesus Christ is the Reminder of GOD Almighty's Steadfast Love and Grace

King Joash was able to take counsel from the chief priest, Jehoiada, and was able to persevere. The chief priest had two wives and had sons and daughters. We learn that King Joash decides that the house of the LORD had to be restored, and there are reforms that begin to happen. There are those cycles of unbelief when they believe in idol worship then they repent because of the difficulties and pray to GOD Almighty. GOD Almighty restores them. This is similar to the time of the Book of Judges when the righteous judges are like the righteous kings or righteous priests that are raised, like the prophets that are raised like Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel that are raised whether it is a king, prophet, or judge to lead the people to GOD Almighty.

We know that there is difficulty in that and King Jesus Christ is sent in order to be that eternal prophet, eternal priest, and eternal king. That is how we are reconciled back to GOD Almighty. GOD Almighty was attempting to reconcile us back to GOD Almighty through the judges but that was not enough. Then GOD Almighty sent the prophets Moses, Joshua, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel, when that was not enough, GOD Almighty sends the kings. The kings are not enough. GOD Almighty sends the priests, the Levitical priesthood. When the priests are not enough, King Jesus Christ is sent. All of this is reminding us of King Jesus Christ. King Jesus Christ is reconciling us to GOD Almighty

The purpose of this blog is the glorification of GOD Almighty, King Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of Truth. We are reminded in the Book of Revelation of the need to persist through faith in the end times of what we know. We are to have belief in the Scriptures. We are to have faith in King Jesus Christ who died on the cross and resurrected on the third day to give us eternal life and who provides the Spirit of Truth. We are able to glorify GOD Almighty above everything in this world. We are reminded in Revelation to not be a part of idolatry and not to take the technological modification.
