Episode: “Samuel, Zealous Belief, and Repentance of Israel”

Introduction

Jesus calls twelve Apostles to preach and bless others - YouTube

Good afternoon! My name is Eduardo. This is Resurrection Radio Podcast. I am your presenter. We spoke about the Book of Samuel that tells us of how Samuel is born and Hannah's prayer of thanksgiving to GOD Almighty. This allows us to understand that prayer works. The prayer of righteous individuals is able to work. We know that the prayer of Elijah, Moses, and righteous individuals like Hezekiah are heard by GOD Almighty. GOD Almighty is able to resolve the difficulties that they were having.

Eli and Eli's Unfaithful Sons

Sunday in the South: 1 Samuel 1:1-2:11 - A Mother Named Hannah

Hannah could not have a child, and GOD Almighty is able to allow her to have a child. We know that not only is Samuel a child but will be a prophet that will allow Israel to continue. We learn that they were having difficulties because the priests that they had did not have a zeal for fulfilling the purpose of GOD Almighty. The zeal for serving GOD Almighty and serving the people. We learn about Eli who was the priest. Eli was considered righteous to some point except the sons of Eli were not seen as righteous.

They were not zealous for the things of GOD Almighty. Eli is seen positively. The sons of Eli are not seen positively. We learn that there is word from a man that tells Eli that his sons were not working in the tent of witness faithfully and not serving the people. The tent of witness is at Shiloh and they are trying to provide for the people, but the sons of Eli are not following the word of GOD Almighty. Samuel is sent so that they have a reminder of GOD Almighty caring for the people.

Repentance and Zeal

Revelations 1:7 | Jesus is coming, Amplified bible, Revelation 1

This is a reminder for the people of Israel to repent from idolatry, we know what happens in the time of the Judges. There is the need of repenting from lukewarm worship. There is no zeal and no faith. There is no complete whole hearted devotion to GOD Almighty. In Revelation, King Jesus Christ says:

“Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.”- Revelation 3: 19

There was a specific church that was lukewarm. GOD Almighty hates that. What is the resolution that King Jesus Christ states to that? The resolution is to repent and to have zeal. Lukewarmness happens because individuals try to make other things more important than the things of GOD Almighty. There should be no idolatry, and a complete devotion to GOD Almighty. There is lukewarm understanding, but there is no zeal or true belief. There is a need to have devotion to GOD Almighty.

GOD Almighty tells us in the church of Laodicea in Revelation that was not going to have devotion. It was going to be lukewarm. It was just going to go through the motions. It is not really caring about the things of GOD Almighty. King Jesus Christ tells us to repent and be zealous. Repent and believe in GOD Almighty. We have trust in GOD Almighty. Believe in the word of GOD Almighty. Have faith in the word of GOD Almighty. When that happens, great things happen.

What was it that the young individuals were doing? The individuals would take food to the tent of witness and the priests were able to have a specific amount of food so that they had their needs met. It is understood that they treated that with contempt. The people were supposed to take specific food and they were supposed to cook or boil them but that they did not follow what was stated from what was stated of Aaron and Moses and statutes that were stated.

They were not only not following the statutes, but they did not have the intention of glorifying GOD Almighty:

“Their sin was great in the sight of the LORD. They treated the sacrifice with contempt.”

It was not only that they were not working like they had been taught to through the Levitical priesthood. We learn that a lot of time has passed since the time of the Judges and Moses and Joshua. There is a lot of time that has passed that has caused other individuals to not have zeal. These individuals do not have the zeal for GOD Almighty. Not only that, their intentions are also not consistent with the worship of GOD Almighty. Not only their actions, but their intentions.

They did not have the zeal. They did not care for what they were doing. They were going through the motions, and GOD Almighty wanted them to be zealous.

The Zeal of Hannah and Samuel

“Samuel was ministering before the LORD, a boy with a linen ephod.”- 1 Samuel 2: 18

This is in contrast to Samuel who has been born through belief and faith and is a little boy ministering to GOD Almighty. They place him with a linen ephod while he is ministering and each year they took the boy to the tent of witness.

“And his mother used to make for him a little robe and take it to him each year when she went up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice. Then Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife, and say, 'May the LORD give you children by this woman for the petition she asked of the LORD.' So then they would return to their home. Indeed the LORD visited Hannah, and she conceived and bore three sons and two daughters. And the boy Samuel grew in the presence of the LORD.” - 1 Samuel 2: 19-21

So there is that understanding that she was able to have Samuel and then continued to go and worship and show faith. Hannah was able to conceive three sons and two daughters and Samuel. She was able to have children. It is that reminder that GOD Almighty is able to work wonders when we have faith in GOD Almighty. There is the need to have faith in GOD Almighty.

There is that reminder in Scripture that Christianity fulfills Jewish history. We learn that there are the statutes and commandments, but there is still that grace and love and zeal for GOD Almighty. Grace, love, and zeal for GOD Almighty. This is King Jesus Christ. King Jesus Christ has infinite love, infinite grace, and infinite zeal for the things of GOD Almighty. King Jesus Christ accomplishes the purpose of GOD Almighty by being zealous. King Jesus Christ wanted the disciples, apostles, and the people to know that their faith can grow when we have confidence and believe in the things of GOD Almighty.

We have to have great faith in GOD Almighty so that our faith grows and wonders happen. It is not that we are looking to accomplish signs and wonders for the sake of signs and wonders, but it is to glorify GOD Almighty. The point is glorification of GOD Almighty. GOD Almighty allows that through Moses, through King Jesus Christ, through David. Blessed be GOD Almighty. This is so that other individuals can see the things of GOD Almighty.

For us as individuals, it is the zeal for GOD Almighty. The zeal can lead to increase of faith. Can lead to increase of signs and wonders. Being able to glorify GOD Almighty above everything. For Hannah, she can have children when she could not have children in the past. For us Christian believers in our times, it is to have discernment. Being able to know things that are truthful from the things that are falsehoods. We are able to know that having Christian zeal help us.

To increase our faith. To learn languages and preach to different people. The manner that the Spirit of Truth guides us. Administrating to allow for the worship of GOD Almighty. This is the distinction that GOD Almighty is making in the Scriptures between the faith of Hannah and Samuel and the son's of Eli who were priests.

Not all priests and not all people, this is just saying that for that time and example there was contempt for the things of GOD Almighty. Samuel and Hannah were not priests but had so much faith. This is reminding us of King Jesus Christ and the pharisees. King Jesus Christ had so much faith that the disciples and apostles were taught about GOD Almighty.

King Jesus Christ's Zeal and the Hatred of the Pharisees

The pharisees were priests but they treated the things of GOD Almighty with contempt. They just followed the motions for following the motions, but they did not have a zeal for GOD Almighty. They cared more for the things that were in the temple than the temple. They did not care for the things of GOD Almighty. That is why King Jesus Christ was angry when He saw everything that was happening in the temple. That is why King Jesus Christ overturned the tables in the temple. The priority is for the worship of GOD Almighty. Everything else is secondary.

When King Jesus Christ sees that they treated with contempt the things of GOD Almighty, it is the same reminder. Even in the Book of the Prophets in the Old Testament, GOD Almighty is angry when people are able to understand the things of GOD Almighty and understand the worship of GOD Almighty and then they treat that with contempt. Then they prefer the things of the world. Or they want to be like the nations.

That is the anger from Judges. They have been delivered from the land of captivity, they make it through the desert and are tested, they make it to the Promised Land. They are able to enjoy all that journey after all those difficulties and are finally able to enjoy worshiping GOD Almighty in the Promised Land that GOD Almighty promised Abraham. And they turn to serve idols.

They saw the signs and wonders of GOD Almighty. Maybe not all of them because there were different generations, but they know the history and the signs and wonders of GOD Almighty in Egypt. How Israel made it through the desert. There is peace even among the hostile nations when they believe in GOD Almighty. All the wonders that GOD Almighty is able to provide. As soon as they have everything, idol worship?

That is the same thing for the sons of Eli. It is the same thing. They were allowed to understand the things of GOD Almighty, but they do not have zeal. Samuel has so much zeal for the things of GOD Almighty that they dress him up as a high priest, but this is talking about the faith that there is so much faith. It is understanding of the importance of GOD Almighty over everything. The faith of Hannah is like the faith of David and like Moses and like Mary. It is that faith.

There is that distinction. The things that are of GOD Almighty are meant to be with zeal. Specific whole hearted devotion to GOD Almighty. That is what GOD Almighty wants. She is not only able to have Samuel, but she has three sons and two daughters. Scripture continues describing the things that they were doing. It says that Eli kept on hearing all that the sons were doing to Israel. They did sin. Eli was getting reports from the people. The sons of Eli were not helping the people, were not instructing the people, and were not allowing the people to understand the things of GOD Almighty.

If anything they were serving as a negative example, how is this possible. There is an individual that tells Eli that they were not going to have the priesthood because there was no zeal for GOD Almighty. They preferred sin to the things of GOD Almighty. They were in the temple. They were half heartedly trying to accomplish the things that they had to do. There was no zeal. We have to do this according to what GOD Almighty states or how GOD Almighty had decided. No. In the temple, they were working half-heartedly and then when they were not in the temple, they were sinning.

This is very similar to the time of King Jesus Christ with the pharisees. They are in the temple and seen in the temple but so much of what they are doing is wickedness. We learn that we see how they go against King Jesus Christ. For individual's that read the Gospel, this is already telling us that there is something wrong there. When we read the Gospel, we do not understand until we have the Spirit of Truth. That is what GOD Almighty hates, that the things of GOD Almighty are taken with contempt.

The purpose of this blog is the glorification of GOD Almighty, King Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of Truth. We are reminded in the Book of Revelation of the need to persist through faith in the end times of what we know. We are to have belief in the Scriptures. We are to have faith in King Jesus Christ who died on the cross and resurrected on the third day to give us eternal life and who provides the Spirit of Truth. We are able to glorify GOD Almighty above everything in this world. We are reminded in Revelation to not be a part of idolatry and not to take the technological modification.
