Peter Prophesies About the New Earth and New Heavens

Revelation 1 - Jesus Christ the Lamb of God and Lion of Judah - YouTube

“Knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. They will say, 'Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.' For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of GOD, and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.”- 2 Peter 2: 3-7

We are told by Peter that there is a Day of Judgment by GOD Almighty that is spoken of by John in Revelation, Jude in the writings of Jude, Paul in his letters, the prophets of Judah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel, and the prophets of Israel, Amos, Joel, Obadiah, Micah, Zephaniah, and King Jesus Christ. We learn that there is an apportioned time that GOD Almighty will judge the wicked and allow for the creation of the New Earth and New Heavens after the wicked are judged and the Old Earth and Old Heavens are destroyed.

We learn through Peter that he has knowledge about the Day of Judgment in the sense that people will scoff. People will be scoffers at the end of the ages because they think that everything is going to continue as in the past days, but those days are different. We learn from King Jesus Christ that while no one knows the specific day only GOD Almighty, we learn that King Jesus Christ gives us signs to interpret that tell us that the day is getting closer. We learn that there are specific signs from the different prophets, disciples, apostles, and the word of GOD that state that those signs are beginning to be seen. Not all the signs have been fulfilled, but a great number of the signs given by King Jesus Christ are beginning to be seen.

We learn that like the days of Noah and Lot, people were going about their business and then GOD Almighty decided to destroy the wicked and spare the righteous. We learn that there will be scoffing in the end of days showing that individuals think that the days that they live will be the same as all the previous days when in fact they will not be the same. We are told by Peter that GOD Almighty created the world we live in, but that GOD Almighty will be able to destroy the world in order to judge and to create a New Earth after the wicked are judged.

We learn that the world is going through so much currently with different natural events that show that GOD Almighty is in absolute control. We know that global climate change does not explain the events that are happening. The explanation is from Scripture. GOD Almighty is choosing to judge wickedness and sin. We learn that King Jesus Christ stated that the earthquakes were going to increase in number. This is judgment against sin and wickedness that people think has no effect. We learn that sin does not only affect individuals and leads them to destruction if they do not repent of their sin, but it also causes destruction to their land.

Peter reminds us that in the Day of Judgment, GOD Almighty is going to destroy wickedness forever and will create a New Earth and New Heavens. This is consistent with what is told in Revelation. We are to remain at peace knowing that GOD Almighty is in absolute control through the events that happen in Revelation and the events that were revealed to the disciples, apostles, prophets, and believers. We place our hope, peace, and protection in King Jesus Christ who has told us beforehand what will happen in order to keep our hope through these times.
