We are able to persevere with our study of the closing of the Church age when we read Daniel and the prophesies from Daniel. We learn that GOD tells Daniel what would happen in the closing of the Church age but also gives us hope about knowing that King Jesus Christ is seated at the Right Hand Side of GOD. We learn to persevere to have faith trusting in King Jesus Christ.
We learn that we are to persevere praying, reading Scripture, singing, praising GOD, and preaching the word of GOD while keeping our faith in GOD Almighty, King Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of Truth.
Resurrection Radio Podcast
Episode: “Psalms and Understanding”
Introduction
Good afternoon! I am Eduardo. This is Resurrection Radio Podcast. I am your presenter. The topic of today's podcast is going to be Psalm 31. This psalm is usually seen as a psalm of protection and a psalm that allows us to get our hopes up seeing the examples of encouragement that exist throughout the Scriptures. GOD Almighty protects those that are His. Yesterday's topic of the Rapture of the Church of Philadelphia and persecution is one of the difficult topics to discuss. It is one of the most difficult topics to talk about because it deals with the present age we are living in.
When we see this, we know that it causes us to feel a little bit worried about what is going to happen. What we have to do is place all our faith in King Jesus Christ and all our faith in GOD Almighty because they are in control of everything that is happening around the world for all of time and for all eternity. Even when it appears to be difficult times, we see that in Scripture there are examples like Peter and Paul who present writings that help in knowing that GOD Almighty turns everything for the good of the Kingdom of Heaven and for the good of believers. We need to have faith and not be afraid because GOD Almighty is in control.
Paying Attention to King Jesus Christ
We read of the protection that David and similar righteous individuals are able to have through the faith. Even when Peter and Paul were martyred, we see that GOD Almighty began to judge because the foundation of society crumbled. Then we begin to see how everything unraveled. So we are able to see that even through their difficulties, they were able to exhibit a cheerful and optimistic view because we know that they placed their faith in King Jesus Christ. So we should not be looking at a negative perspective, we should be looking at things from a positive perspective. Even the examples of King David being protected and King Jesus Christ being resurrected gives us examples of how everything works out for the good of righteous Christian believers and the Kingdom of Heaven. So we know that we should not be scared because we know that we are going to get a resurrection body and we will be saved. Even King Jesus Christ says:
“By your endurance you will gain your lives.”- Luke 21: 19
Reading the Psalms for Encouragement
Regardless if it is Rapture or tribulation, we are supposed to have faith in GOD Almighty. The Psalms, allow us to feel comfort and protection in the sense that King David went through similar persecution as the apostles and the prophets when he was doing what was correct. King David was blameless. Even through it all, even when there are individuals that are blameless that are being persecuted, we know that we can take comfort in the Scriptures because we know that GOD Almighty protected individuals when there was opposition against them.
One of the first psalms tells us about the two different paths that individuals can take. They tell that GOD Almighty provides protection in different manners depending if an individual is walking in the path of the righteous. While some of the stories of David are difficult because of the circumstances that David is experiencing, there are those stories that display GOD Almighty's saving power even through the difficulties. This is similar to when GOD Almighty states to Abraham that He is a shield for Abraham and a rock and a fortress to His believers. A mighty refuge for his believers is what GOD Almighty states from Old Testament to New Testament to today's age. We read in Psalm 31:
“In you, O LORD, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame; in your righteousness deliver me! Incline your ear to me; rescue me speedily! Be a rock of refuge for me, be a strong fortress to save me!”- Psalm 31: 1-2
David, a Suffering Servant Prior to Being King
So here David is pleading to GOD Almighty to have protection and to be protected. When David is going through difficulties, and he goes through several difficulties and they are not simple difficulties, they are complex situations and yet the first thing David does is ask GOD Almighty what he is supposed to do. David asks GOD Almighty for protection and for refuge. GOD Almighty allows David to go through these blessings. He gives David protection even through the afflictions. GOD Almighty gives David protection even through tribulation and through persecution. So we see that our GOD, GOD Almighty keeps His promises. If we are faithful, and we are believers, and if we are righteous, GOD Almighty delivers.
That is what GOD Almighty does for David. Another thing that we learn about this is that David calls GOD Almighty a rock. What do we call King Jesus Christ in the New Testament? We call King Jesus Christ the Chief Cornerstone. A cornerstone is a rock, a foundation. What does King Jesus Christ do to Peter? King Jesus Christ changes his name and calls him rock. His name is Simon and becomes Peter, Cephas meaning rock. A foundation for the Christian faith. Peter becomes a foundation for the Christian faith. From this, we can see the continuation and the cross referencing of the New Testament to the words of the Prophets. So we persist, David states:
“For you are my rock and my fortress; and for your name's sake, you lead me and guide me; you take me out of the net they have hidden for me, for you are my refuge. Into your hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed me, O LORD, faithful GOD.”- Psalm 31: 3-5
King Jesus Christ, Chief Cornerstone, GOD Almighty, Rock of Refuge
So
again, David is calling GOD Almighty a rock, a firm foundation, a
fortress. Even more so than a physical
fortress, a spiritual fortress where GOD Almighty protects. For the
name's sake of GOD Almighty,
He leads David. For who's sake? For GOD Almighty's name sake. Even
when we see that GOD Almighty
talks about Israel, He says that for
His own name's sake He is going to protect them. Even when they
are
sinning, GOD Almighty allows everything to work out because it is GOD
Almighty's name sake that is supposed to be lifted up and be praised.
For
GOD Almighty's name and name's sake, we praise GOD Almighty. GOD
Almighty is going to honor
David and protect him and be a fortress.
GOD Almighty is going to defend believers from the attacks
of the
enemies. Even when it seems that the enemies and the opposition are
getting an upper hand,
GOD Almighty flips that around and turns it
around. It even says, even when they place snares, and
traps, and
evil is formed against you, it shall not prosper. As a believer, we
have that hope and we have
that firm foundation. We have examples
through out the Scriptures. Even in the present day, we see those
examples. And then David states:
“I hate those who pay regard to worthless idols, but I trust in the LORD. I will rejoice and be glad in your steadfast love, because you have seen my affliction; you have known the distress of my soul, and you have not delivered me to the hand of the enemy; you have set my feet in a broad place.”- Psalm 31: 6-8
Faith Immeasurable
David is saying that he is a faithful individual. He is not going to pay regard to worthless idols. He is not going to commit idolatry. This is impressive to read because he does not commit idolatry. He does commit adultery but not idolatry. David's son who is given the greatest portion of Israel based on David's faith and GOD Almighty's promises to David, is able to expand upon the land that David is able to increase. Solomon allows for the land to increase to the greatest amount of land that they had up until that point, and then the idolatry of Solomon is what causes the splitting of the kingdom and then division and difficulties.
This tells us that we are not supposed to commit idolatry. We are not supposed to serve GOD Almighty and other idols. We are to only supposed to serve and believe in GOD Almighty, King Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of Truth. We are supposed to only worship GOD Almighty. David says that he will trust in the LORD, and GOD Almighty will deliver David. GOD Almighty will deliver me, protect me, and guide me. I will trust in the LORD. I will trust in the name of the LORD. This is because of His steadfast love, GOD Almighty's love for humanity, and His love for righteous Christians. GOD Almighty's grace and His never ending grace.
GOD Almighty's Grace
In Jeremiah, GOD Almighty gives the people of Israel multiple chances to repent even when they are going to be in exile. This is because they continue to sin. Even when they continue sinning, they are given changes to repent. We see these examples of GOD Almighty being graceful even in the Old Testament. This grace is consistent with who King Jesus Christ is. GOD Almighty is giving grace to individuals. GOD Almighty is giving grace to humanity. GOD Almighty is giving grace to the wicked. GOD Almighty is giving grace to believers. David speaks of the Omniscient point of view that GOD Almighty has. David says that GOD Almighty has seen the afflictions and the distress of David's soul. So GOD Almighty knows everything about everyone for all time. GOD Almighty even knows the intentions of why someone is doing something. Their mindsets, what is in their hearts, and why they are doing specific actions. GOD Almighty knows the reason and knows everything about everyone for all time. GOD Almighty knows about the desires and the distress of the soul. Even David says:
“And you have not delivered me into the hand of the enemy.”- Psalm 31: 8
David acknowledges that GOD Almighty has protected him, guarded him, and been true to His eternal word. This is what GOD Almighty has done for Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This is what GOD Almighty had done for the twelve tribes and everyone who believes in GOD Almighty. David states:
“Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am in distress; my eye is wasted from grief, my soul, and my body also.”- Psalm 31: 9
So David is having difficulties.
“For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones waste away.”- Psalm 31: 10
So David is saying that he has sinned. David is showing us that we are supposed to acknowledge our sin. We need to understand that sometimes it is our sin that causes difficulties. There is also opposition from the world that attempts to sway believers to fall into temptation with sinful desire. For these iniquities, this also causes difficulties. In this specific example, David states that it is his sin of omission or commission. This means that David may not have known he was committing sin, but he is asking for forgiveness to GOD Almighty in order to be righteous. David states:
“Because of all my adversaries, I have become a reproach, especially to my neighbors, and an object of dread to my acquaintances; those who see me in the street flee from me.”- Psalm 31: 11
Even those with whom David lives close to are in dread and flee from him. They do not pay attention to him. This is probably the time when David is being stalked by the men of Saul and no one wants to know about David. Saul does not like David because David has proven to be a mighty warrior and a mighty individual because GOD Almighty has decided to give David favor and grace. Even people who were used to talking to David where he lived do not want to talk to him because they are fearful of Saul. They are fearful of those individuals. David only has GOD Almighty to look after him. GOD Almighty is all he needs. We only need GOD Almighty. It states:
“I have been forgotten like one who is dead. I have become like a broken vessel for I hear the whispering of many on every side. As they scheme together against me as they plot to take my life.”
So, of course, David is going through a lot. Yet David still praises GOD Almighty and sees the promises of GOD Almighty. David still acknowledges his sin. He does not say that he is blameless. David acknowledges his sin. David praises GOD Almighty through it all and trusts in GOD.
“But I trust in you my GOD. My time's are in your hand. You have rescued me from the hand of my enemies and my persecutors.”
David wholeheartedly believes in GOD Almighty. David trusts in GOD Almighty. Full heartedly and completely. David only has the True GOD Almighty and does not go after idolatry. David says:
“My times are in your hands.”- Psalm 31: 15
David is saying that GOD Almighty is in control of the times of when things happen and when things do not happen. But time does not define GOD Almighty, GOD Almighty defines time. GOD Almighty is eternal and infinite. If GOD Almighty is able to control time, he is able to protect. GOD Almighty is able to rescue David. GOD Almighty rescues David from his afflictions.
“Make your face shine on your servant; save me in your steadfast love! O LORD, let me never be put to shame for I call upon you; let the wicked be put to shame; let them go silently to Sheol. Let the lying lips be mute, which speak insolently against the righteous in pride and contempt.”- Psalm 31: 16-18
GOD Almighty's Protection and Judgment
So again David is saying that the wicked are attempting to attack the righteous. Those that are righteous. We learn that there are times of difficulty because it appears that the wicked are able to continue in their envy. The wicked are trying to say lies, slander the righteous, and they are trying to speak insolently against those that are righteous. Even through this, we learn that GOD Almighty judges and decides to exalt the humble.
“Oh, how abundant is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you and worked for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of the children of mankind!”- Psalm 31: 19
The goodness of GOD Almighty is abundant. It is merciful. It is eternal. There is so much goodness and greatness in GOD Almighty. GOD Almighty gives us abundantly His steadfast love so that we know that He wants us to accept His salvation.
“In the cover of your presence you hide them from the plots of men; you store them in your shelter from the strife of tongues.”- Psalm 31: 20
So GOD Almighty provides protection from the wickedness of individuals and then prevents them from listening to things that are not conducive to creation, or conducive to creativity, or conducive to the positive attributes of life.
“Blessed be the LORD, for he has wondrously shown his steadfast love to me when I was in a besieged city. I had said in my alarm, 'I am cut off from your sight.' But you heard the voice of my pleas for mercy when I cried for you heard my cry to you for help.”- Psalm 31: 21-22

The purpose of this blog is the glorification of GOD Almighty, King Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of Truth. We are reminded in the Book of Revelation of the need to persist through faith in the end times of what we know. We are to have belief in the Scriptures. We are to have faith in King Jesus Christ who died on the cross and resurrected on the third day to give us eternal life and who provides the Spirit of Truth. We are able to glorify GOD Almighty above everything in this world. We are reminded in Revelation to not be a part of idolatry and not to take the technological modification.
