Episode: “Rehoboam's Kingdom, Belief, and Contrite Behavior”
Introduction
Good afternoon! My name is Eduardo. This is Resurrection Radio Podcast. I am your presenter. We spoke in the previous episode about the Book of 2 Chronicles. There are difficulties that exist in the time of Rehoboam because of the idolatry of Solomon. We learn that Solomon is not affected, but Rehoboam is affected. Rehoboam sees that the specific kingdom of Israel that was unified now becomes the northern and the southern kingdom. We know that Rehoboam is given a kingdom out of the steadfast love for David. GOD Almighty loves David so much that He gives grace to Solomon and gives grace to Rehoboam. This is for the lineage of David. GOD Almighty accomplishes His purpose and fulfills His purpose. When they believe in GOD Almighty, they have everything. When they do not believe in GOD Almighty, they do not have everything.
GOD Almighty Fortifies Judah
GOD Almighty decides for what is going to happen. GOD Almighty allows us to understand the things that are of GOD Almighty. When we continue to worship GOD Almighty and persist to understand this in the Spirit of Truth, we can understand that GOD Almighty wants us to persevere worshiping GOD Almighty above everything in this life. GOD Almighty wants us to persevere moving forward and glorifying GOD Almighty above everything in this life. That is what we see in the kingdom of Rehoboam how the kingdom of Judah is fortified because GOD Almighty is being worshiped. They have priests. The priests leave the northern kingdom and go to the kingdom of Rehoboam in Jerusalem in Judah to have the manner that they can worship GOD Almighty. They make sure to fulfill their purpose in the belief of GOD Almighty.
Their work is to glorify GOD Almighty. That is what the Levitical priesthood was meant for. The sons of Aaron were meant to atone for the people, worship GOD Almighty, teach the people the laws of GOD Almighty, and that is what they do. When they had done that in the north in the past, they now go to the southern kingdom of Judah and teach the law and fulfill their purpose for GOD Almighty. During those years that they are worshiping GOD Almighty, the GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, everything abounds. We do know there is difficulty because there is idolatry, but they repent of their sins.
Contriteness and Meekness to Avoid the Temporary Lies of Sin
“And it came to pass, when the kingdom of Rehoboam was established, and he was strong, that he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.”
There was the difficulty in understanding that idolatry causes difficulties. Once GOD Almighty provides the strength, once GOD Almighty provides the wisdom, once GOD Almighty provides the Promised Land, once GOD Almighty provides all the things that are needed to persevere, there is that arrogance or ego that tries to tell us that we can do specific things because of what we have. That is what happens to Solomon. There is the wisdom, and the riches, and the honor, and the things associated with the wisdom. We learn that the wisdom was from GOD Almighty. The riches were from GOD Almighty. The honor was from GOD Almighty. Because of that, there was the need to persevere and keep worshiping GOD Almighty.
We have to remind ourselves as Christian believers that it is GOD Almighty who provides those good things. It is GOD Almighty who provides like David says. While there are all those resources for the kingdom of Israel to build GOD Almighty the temple to have resources for the people, this is all given by GOD Almighty. They are given all of this to worship and glorify GOD Almighty. There is meekness and that contrite understanding that everything is created by GOD Almighty and everything is for GOD Almighty. Everything is made by GOD Almighty, and everything is for GOD Almighty. That understanding is very complex to understand. The things of the world are trying to say the ego and the arrogance are the reason for the good things and that is not the case. This is with the intention to cause the practice of idolatry and sin. Individuals are lied to and tempted by sin to believe that either the wisdom, might, or resources are from themselves, the practice of idolatry and sin, and that they are going to help. This speaks about evil attempting to tempt individuals based on temporary lies.
For Rehoboam and for Solomon, we read that there are those difficulties. When the world tries to say might, or wisdom, we are supposed to increase in fervor in the worship of GOD Almighty, King Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of Truth. We have to remind ourselves that it is faith that conquers everything because it is the confidence in GOD Almighty who is in control of absolutely everything for all time and for all eternity. There is confidence in GOD Almighty because GOD Almighty is in control of everything. So again, there is that reminder from the examples that we can learn from. It was not an easy task for Solomon to be living in idolatry. Solomon believed in GOD Almighty. We know there are circumstances and evil is constantly fighting against individuals in order to get them to believe the temporary lies. This is what we have to remind ourselves as Christian believers.
Remembering Good Examples from Scripture
We have to remind ourselves of the Book of 2 Chronicles whether through the examples of King Jesus Christ the King of kings. prophets, kings, disciples, apostles, or saints, and righteous individuals. We have to remind ourselves that the world wants to throw temporary lies at us to try to make us believe deceit. Either to diminish individuals who practice sin and idolatry and try to say that individuals are not worthy of eternal salvation. We are worthy of salvation because Jesus Christ died on the cross and resurrected on the third day. There is that. The other side is speaking about temporary lies of sin like adding to the commandments or taking away from the commandments in order to prevent the obedience of the commandments of Moses. Evil will attempt to use temporary lies and say that individuals deserve better because you are stronger or wiser or have greater resources like in the case of Ahab. We have to say no. GOD Almighty is infinitely Wise and infinitely Almighty and GOD Almighty gives the attributes, characteristics, or qualities that GOD Almighty decides for.
There is that constant balancing act of not paying attention to the things of the world. If we do not pay attention to the things of the world, that is when we know we can persevere moving forward. This speaks about not practicing sin, idolatry, vices, and negative emotions. The things of the world do not help. They either want to lie in a specific manner or another manner. For Rehoboam, we cannot take it lightly that it is constant that evil tried to attack righteous individuals. We learn that when we are righteous, evil hates righteous individuals. Evil cannot stand that. Evil cannot stand that there are righteous individuals even in today's time.
Even in the time of Moses. We know in the time of Moses of the descriptions of the blessings for those that believe in GOD Almighty and the difficulties of the wicked that do not believe in GOD Almighty. We have to make sure to pay attention to the word of GOD Almighty so that we do not listen to deception. Even in that time there was deception. Now, obviously there is deception. There is that distinction that evil says that individuals are not worthy of eternal salvation. No. We are worthy of eternal salvation because of King Jesus Christ died on the cross and gave us eternal life through the resurrection on the third day. That is something that the world will never provide. The world has not provided for eternal salvation, can not provide, and will never provide for that. Only GOD Almighty can provide for that. Add infinite love, add infinite grace, add King Jesus Christ.
There is that. The other one is that when we begin to increase in characteristics, qualities, or attributes, evil wants to say that increase is because of the individual. This is with the intention to cause the practice of self adoration and idolatry. We know that the increase of positive qualities are from GOD Almighty. GOD Almighty provides positive qualities to individuals who obey the commandments with sincerity of heart and worship GOD Almighty, King Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of Truth. We learn that when individuals practice idolatry and sin, the positive qualities that existed in that individual decline and decrease. Instead there are vices and difficulties that attempt to lead to destruction. Individuals are able to repent of sin in order to return to the path of eternal salvation. Rehoboam establishes himself and abandons the belief in GOD Almighty. That is what evil wants. Evil wants to separate, cause division, cause quarreling, cause hatred, and cause envy. GOD Almighty says no. Pay attention to the word of GOD Almighty. If we have the word of GOD Almighty and the commandments, we can pervere because through GOD Almighty we have everything. Our intentions are to glorify GOD Almighty, our actions stem from our intentions to glorify GOD Almighty, and our words stem from our intentions to glorify GOD Almighty.
This is that reminder. For Solomon, at the end of the story, when he was committing idolatry and sin because of the wives. We learn that the wisdom of Solomon was not enough. We learn that the 1,000 women were not enough. The talents of gold were not enough. The connections were not enough. The diplomacy with the nations was not enough. Having a military for himself was not enough. We learn that the idolatry causes difficulties for Solomon and are even described in Ecclesiastes concerning the need to fear GOD Almighty and obey the commandments of Moses. Evil could not stand that Solomon was the son of David. David had gone through so much and persevered to glorify GOD Almighty. Evil does not like that. Solomon is the son of David. Evil wants people do believe in idolatry and self adoration. Through the wisdom that was so great, evil tempts and tries to make him believe that his wisdom was enough. That Solomon could be represented by his wisdom only. This causes there to be difficulties because it causes Solomon to not obey the commandments of Moses and worship GOD Almighty, King Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of Truth above everything. Like Rehoboam, who believed that the strength was through himself. We have to remind ourselves that the strength and the wisdom and those good attributes are from GOD Almighty. Our belief, strength, understanding, wisdom, authority, dominion, sovereignty, and those good things are from GOD Almighty. There is that distinction. That is when the temporary lies crumble. The temporary lies do not affect us because we are in the eternal truth.
We are worthy because King Jesus Christ says that we are worthy to persevere glorifying GOD Almighty. That is the description and that is the difference.
GOD Almighty Reminds Rehoboam of the Faith
“And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had dealt treacherously with the LORD, with twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen; and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubim, the Sukkiim, and the Ethiopians. And he took the fortified cities which pertained to Judah, and came unto Jerusalem.”
This is very similar to the time of Hezekiah. When there is a larger army and larger nation that is afflicting them. There is the distinction within the description that Hezekiah goes to GOD Almighty. Hezekiah makes those reforms that allow the people to worship at the temple and glorify GOD Almighty. For Egypt and Rehoboam, Rehoboam had abandoned the faith and the commandments of GOD Almighty. The strength that GOD Almighty gave to Rehoboam, and Rehoboam forgets about the worship of GOD Almighty. GOD Almighty has positive qualities that are eternal and infinite. We know GOD Almighty is eternal, infinite, exhaustible, indestructible, infallible, Omniscient, Omnipresent, and Omnipotent among other qualities that the human mind cannot understand. GOD Almighty is perfect. GOD Almighty gives specific qualities to individuals in the manner that GOD Almighty decides for each individual. For Solomon, GOD Almighty gives wisdom. Riches and honor secondary to the wisdom. For Rehoboam, He gives strength. Then there is that understanding that it is from GOD Almighty, so we glorify GOD Almighty.
In the difficulties we glorify GOD Almighty. In the good, we glorify GOD Almighty. When we grow in strength, authority, wisdom, understanding, dominion, power, might, love, sovereignty, and freedom, we have to remind ourselves to glorify GOD Almighty. That is why we have to remind ourselves of the example of David. That is why David is so much different from all the other individuals. Moses is distinct from any other individual. We learn that King Jesus Christ is distinct from any other individual. Those examples that we have to pay attention to. In this specific description, we see that there are difficulties for Israel because Rehoboam had decided to believe that the strength was because of himself when the strength was provided by GOD Almighty.
All the good things are from GOD Almighty that allow us to persevering prospering. The intentions of the heart and mind should be to worship GOD Almighty, King Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of Truth above everything with sincerity of heart. The zeal in GOD Almighty is so powerful. Allowing us to have dominion, sovereignty, strength, might, wisdom, authority, love, grace, and it can only grow from there. King Jesus Christ states that if we have faith, it can grow exponentially. Like a mustard seed into one of the biggest trees that can exist. That is GOD Almighty being able to provide for us through faith. There are qualities, characteristics, and attributes that are from GOD Almighty. All the good things in life are because of the worship of GOD Almighty.
“Now Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them: ‘Thus saith the LORD: Ye have forsaken Me, therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.’”
There is that response and there is that understanding. Because Rehoboam, had decided to forsake GOD Almighty. We are talking about the kingdom of Judah now. So Rehoboam decides to believe that the strength is his and abandons the commandments and the belief. Because he does not believe in GOD Almighty, GOD Almighty was going to see how he was going to make it.
Rehoboam Acknowledges GOD Almighty as Righteous
“Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said: ‘The LORD is righteous.’”- 2 Chronicles 12: 1-8
They acknowledge GOD Almighty. There are those years that they believe in GOD Almighty. They are living in righteousness and then there is that time when they abandon the belief in GOD Almighty. There may be idolatry. I do not know if it is only faithlessness or unbelief. It could be idolatry. They do not believe in GOD Almighty. Now they believe again because GOD Almighty sends word through a prophet and they say, “The LORD is righteous.”
They humble themselves knowing that GOD Almighty provides. What happens? GOD Almighty humbles them. Egypt is able to cause difficulties for them, but then they are allowed to persevere. They are not made a full end of. GOD Almighty is graceful and they repent. They could have decided for something else but they repent. They say that GOD Almighty is righteous.
They were not made a full end of because they repented. They were going to have the strength that they had previously when they were with GOD Almighty. This is because of GOD Almighty and they did not acknowledge GOD Almighty. Because they decided to not believe in GOD Almighty, GOD Almighty allows them to continue without GOD Almighty. This is why we have to acknowledge GOD Almighty over everything in this life. We cannot abandon GOD Almighty because we have to have belief in GOD Almighty. We have to trust GOD Almighty. We have to have faith in GOD Almighty. GOD Almighty is going to provide. That is the difficult part for some Christians. Not knowing how GOD Almighty is going to provide, but we know that GOD Almighty is able to provide.
Even in this time when it seemed that they were going to be destroyed, and they were not destroyed. GOD Almighty protected them.

The purpose of this blog is the glorification of GOD Almighty, King Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of Truth. We are reminded in the Book of Revelation of the need to persist through faith in the end times of what we know. We are to have belief in the Scriptures. We are to have faith in King Jesus Christ who died on the cross and resurrected on the third day to give us eternal life and who provides the Spirit of Truth. We are able to glorify GOD Almighty above everything in this world. We are reminded in Revelation to not be a part of idolatry and not to take the technological modification.
