Episode: “King Jesus Christ and Psalm 110”

Introduction

Good afternoon! This is Eduardo. Your presenter for Resurrection Radio Podcast. This topic for today is going to be Psalm 110. The Psalms of David tell a lot about the importance of Jesus Christ and tells us about the prophesying of Jesus Christ in the Old Testament. So David did not know Jesus Christ, but he did know Jesus Christ because he praised GOD, he had faith, and was a man of faith. David did know about Jesus Christ but did not know the name of Jesus Christ at this time. During this Psalm, we are able to see that David calls Jesus Christ LORD in the Spirit. It states:

“The LORD says to my LORD: 'Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.”- Psalm 110: 1

David is calling for the first LORD GOD. The second LORD is Jesus Christ in the Psalm. GOD Almighty is telling Jesus Christ that He will sit at the Right Hand Side of GOD until the enemies of Jesus Christ were defeated. We see this in the Psalms as a manner to prophesy what would happen. Then we see this is the description of GOD Almighty allowing Jesus Christ to destroy His enemies. Then we see this in the New Testament as well when we see that Jesus Christ is crucified and resurrected on the third day and destroys sin, evil, and death. He tells the disciples that He is going to be seated at the Right Hand Side of the Father. So Jesus Christ would be able to bring about salvation. Also being given Authority, Sovereignty, Dominion, and Power and be in the Highest Heavens with GOD. This allows us to see that Jesus Christ is the Messiah and the savior of the world. Even David was able to prophesy about this while he was praising. We are able to see that even David recognized this.

King David Represents Faith

David was one of those kings in the Old Testament that represented faith. From all the kings that started off, the first king was Saul. GOD allowed him to rule for forty years, but then Saul became jealous of David. So GOD allowed a spirit of jealousy to torment Saul because he had hated David because David was able to defeat the giant. No one wanted to fight against the giant, and David decides to fight because he is a man of faith and saves the people of Israel and the Israeli army based on his faith on going to fight the giant. Through this, Israel is able to defeat the Philistines. What we learn is that Saul becomes jealous of David. Every time David is invited to go to Saul's banquets, he is thinking about hurting David. Through all this, we learn that David was one of the symbols of faith. Even through that time when he was suffering, the persecution, the difficulties, that even David suffered persecution.

This is something that Jesus Christ would also go through and be a suffering servant. Jesus Christ would also suffer difficulties from the world. David suffered because he was righteous and did what no one else wanted to do, he was bold, and had faith. What did David do? He defeated the giant and caused for Saul's envy. This proved problematic for David for a specific amount of time. What happens is that GOD decided to give the kingship to David because of Saul's disobedience and hatred of David. David was only doing the right thing. So we see the same thing. Jesus Christ was a suffering servant who did the right thing. He found the lost, healed the sick, protected the outcast and taught them, and He was also persecuted, ridiculed, and slandered by those that were envious or jealous of the truth.

Even through it all, there is that reminder and that similarity that Jesus Christ is from the branch of David genealogy wise based on Joseph. Then again, David was created by GOD Almighty and Jesus Christ is seated at the Right Hand Side of the Father and existed before creation. Jesus Christ existed before Abraham. Jesus Christ existed before humanity. Jesus Christ was made known as a human being when humanity needed a physical representation of His steadfast love.

This is something that we learn because we are able to see that through faith mountains are moved. We are able to see how impossible things are made possible. To the logical brain, this would seem an impossibility. Seeing that David calls Jesus Christ LORD even if Jesus Christ has not been born yet. David is praising GOD Almighty in the Spirit of Truth and not through the mindset of the world. David is saying this in a spiritual manner. The spiritual sense is a better manner of understanding this. We see that in the worldly manner, it is superficial. In the spiritual sense of GOD Almighty and faith, we are able to understand greater truths and greater understandings and wisdom.

One of the things that we understand is that Saul is characterized by envy. Saul was a king for forty years and apparently he did do a lot for Israel during the forty years prior to what he did to David. It seems that he did things to increase the land of Israel, but there were episodes when his dislike for David caused difficulties for Israel. Being that David was a faithful servant, it did affect Saul. David was given the kingship, and he was a man of faith and served the people meaning the people knew that David did things for the good of the people.

We learn about king Solomon that was the wealthiest and the wisest and ruled at the peak of the kingdom of Israel, but we know that his trust in wisdom, wealth, and wives caused him to not have the faith that David had for GOD Almighty. While Solomon is a good example of wisdom and a lot of good things, we also know that there was that idolatry that existed at king Solomon's time. That idolatry caused him to not follow the commandments. While we know that king David was not perfect because he sinned, he was able to trust GOD Almighty and have faith in GOD Almighty despite the multiple difficult situations. Even when it seemed that it was impossible for David to survive or to make it, yet he trusted GOD.

The Psalms Remind Us of GOD Almighty's Faithfulness

We see these reminders through the Psalms. That is why the Psalms are very important. The Psalms give a first person point of view of David's perspective while in the Book of Samuel, Chronicles, and Kings we see the events that transpire through the kingship and through Israel. We are able to see in Psalms the first person point of view of how David did have difficulties in life, and how life sometimes is not easy. But we are reminded to have faith in GOD Almighty so that He can guide us to where we need to go. He can tell us what we need to know, so that we can know what we need to do. This is so that we can continue.

David was able to do all this through his faith in GOD. He was able to continue. Even when he was persecuted by the king, he was able to continue. He was able to become king because he trusted in GOD Almighty. We are able to see in Psalm 110 not only his faith, but also the prophesying that he is able to say even through the praises to GOD Almighty. No one knew at this time that Jesus Christ would be born. But now we know, looking from what we know that Jesus Christ is seated at the Right Hand Side of the Father, this correlates with the praises that David was saying even before hand. Jesus Christ even told some of the Pharisees and some of the people who did not believe or have faith in Jesus Christ that:

“Jesus said to them, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.' ''- Psalms 8: 58

So Jesus Christ is saying that before Abraham was born, Jesus Christ was alive in the Spirit. We know that this causes commotion and the Pharisees state that this is blasphemy because how could Jesus Christ have lived during Abraham's time or before Abraham's time, if Jesus Christ is not a specific amount of age. And Jesus Christ is stating that He lived before Abraham. So they were looking at things from a worldly perspective, while Jesus Christ was speaking in a spiritual perspective. Again, there are things that Jesus Christ says in the Spirit that people do not understand. Like when He says that He would destroy the temple and that in three days He would build it up. Jesus Christ meant that He would die and resurrect in three days, but the people did not understand that.

The purpose of this blog is the glorification of GOD Almighty, King Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of Truth. We are reminded in the Book of Revelation of the need to persist through faith in the end times of what we know. We are to have belief in the Scriptures. We are to have faith in King Jesus Christ who died on the cross and resurrected on the third day to give us eternal life and who provides the Spirit of Truth. We are able to glorify GOD Almighty above everything in this world. We are reminded in Revelation to not be a part of idolatry and not to take the technological modification.
