In this episode of Resurrection Radio we talk about Psalm 106 and the idolatry that is remembered by David. We learn that GOD wants us to follow the Ten Commandments, to have faith, and to obey the word of GOD. We learn that through the history of Israel there have been individuals who stood as examples of being believers of the word of GOD seen in David and other examples.
We are reminded to keep our faith and not turn to idolatry or the breaking of the Commandments. We learn that when Israel chose to follow idolatry, GOD was able to show His disapproval of idolatry. We learn that the word of GOD is meant to sustain and protect us from the temptations that exist in life.

Episode: “Israel's Idolatry and Psalm 106”
Introduction
Good afternoon! This is Eduardo. This is Resurrection Radio Podcast. I am your presenter. Today we are going to go over Psalm 106. Psalm 106 is basically the continuation of Psalm 105 because Psalm 105 states the promises that GOD Almighty made and that GOD fulfilled. Psalm 106 is the continuation of that and it tells us why Jesus Christ was sent to the world. Why Jesus Christ was sent to Israel specifically and also why Jesus Christ was sent to the world for everyone to have salvation.
The reason was that we people were not able to uphold our side of what we had to do for GOD Almighty. Because GOD Almighty in His infinite wisdom knows how everything happens from the sin of Adam and Eve when mankind was not able to obey GOD. This is because of their disobedience and sin was introduced. All of the negative consequences of life are introduced through the disobedience of Adam and Eve so we see how Psalm 106 states how sin progressed into worse sin. GOD wanted the people of Israel and the people of the world to have salvation through Jesus Christ because there was no one else who could sustain the other side of what they had to do. GOD Almighty had to send Jesus Christ to do everything to the obedience of GOD and no one else could do what King Jesus Christ does.
Prophets Sent to Preach Repentance of Sin
Of course, there was sin all over the place. We learn from the prophets in Ezekiel, in Isaiah, in Jeremiah, in Daniel that it is the same kind of sins that are happening over and over repeatedly and these types of sins are not your typical white lies small sins. They are big sins. It is the shedding of innocent blood, it is adultery, it is lying, and bribing, and doing all kinds of injustices against the weak, and the needy, and the fatherless, and the oppressed that are disgusting things that are being done. That is why GOD Almighty sent the prophets to talk against the people to tell them and to remind them that they needed to change their ways if they were to inherit the kingdom of Heaven. If they repented and changed, they were going to be able to make it to Heaven. That is why the prophets were sent. Before the Chaldean exile, there are multiple prophets sent. They are sent to prophecy to the people and tell them basically that what they are doing is not right.
All those things that are being done in secret are going to be revealed. They are going to be known and that is what we learn about that. As sinners, everyone has sinned. We all fall short of the glory of GOD and fall short of the grace of GOD. GOD in His infinite wisdom and grace gives us grace undeserved yet we are given the opportunity to take it. That is how we get eternal life by confessing Jesus Christ who died on the cross, resurrected on the third day, who is seated at the Right Hand Side of the Father and will return to judge the wicked. We learn that because people were not able to uphold the Ten Commandments, and do the righteous thing and do the honest thing and act in faith towards GOD, that is why things started to happen and why things started to change. The wilderness years were because the people did not believe in GOD. What were the things that they were doing that were causing them to act faithlessly? They made a calf in Horeb and worshiped a metal image. When Moses went up to the mountain to speak to GOD what is the first thing that the people do?
Impatience and Idolatry
They wait for him, but they get inpatient and that is one of the options that the world uses to try to destroy believer's faith. Impatience regarding how long things take. It is going to take this long, GOD you are going to make us wait. That is one of the ways that the world uses to try to mess with people's faith. What happened to Moses? Moses went up, and he told the people to wait. Moses went up to speak to GOD on the mountain in order to know what GOD wanted for the people in order for them to be delivered. They were already delivered from Egypt, but they needed to be delivered from the wilderness, and they were going to go through the wilderness that had testing. There are snakes, there are scorpions, there could have been other nations that could have attempted to stop them from getting the Promised Land. There were all these what ifs. GOD Almighty constantly reminds the people of Israel that they do not have to worry because GOD Almighty was going to provide.
What if this or what if that. Moses was going to speak with GOD because GOD is in control of everything. GOD knows about everything about the Promised Land and all they needed was to keep faith. What we see is that when Moses goes up to Mount Sinai, he stays there talking to GOD. We do not know how much time has elapsed. It could have been a day, it could have been less than a day, it could have been a week. We do not know. But we do know that the people started to make a false god. A calf in Horeb at the base of the mountain while they were waiting for Moses. They started to melt gold and try to refine it into an idol.
What does an idol symbolize? It symbolizes idolatry, it symbolizes the people's need of a representation of something that will guide them and lead them. We are able to see that that is the first thing that they do that messes with the faith of the people and from there they stray. From there it is already telling that GOD is not their number one priority. That is breaking the First Commandment. The First Commandment is you shall love the LORD your GOD with all your heart, soul, and mind, and strength. That is not what they are doing.
They are going after things that are being created by human hands. Through this, we are able to see that GOD Almighty works all things for the good of the Heavenly Kingdom and for the good of believers. We see that when Moses returns to the people, he is appalled at their idol worship. I cannot imagine how Moses could have felt during this. GOD Almighty had just delivered them. GOD Almighty had shown so many different miracles. GOD Almighty gave all kinds of miracles from the plagues that delivered the people from captivity. They saw the marvelous signs that GOD provided for the people in order to be freed from slavery. They saw GOD Almighty part the sea. They saw GOD destroy the Egyptians in the sea.
After all this, the people decide to make a metal image of a calf, and it just does not make sense to true believers. It does not make sense that the people could not wait for what Moses was going to say, and that they were not going to wait for GOD Almighty who had delivered them from all the difficulties that they had. They went through slavery and forced labor and some of them probably started worshiping other beliefs, or started mixing with the Egyptian belief system which is something that GOD Almighty did not want for them and did not intend them to do. We learn that Moses being the intercessor foretelling of Jesus Christ the intercessor of eternal life, we see in Moses that he speaks to the people and tells them that they cannot be doing this. That they need to wait for GOD Almighty. GOD Almighty was going to deliver them, and GOD Almighty was going to tell them what they were supposed to do. A fire breaks out it states:
“They forgot GOD, their Savior, who had done great things in Egypt, wondrous works in the land of Ham, and awesome deeds by the Red Sea. Therefore he said he would destroy them- had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him, to turn away his wrath from destroying them.”- Psalm 106: 21-23
What happens is that Moses comes down from the base of the mountain. In a lot of the movies it is portrayed that he throws the tablets of the Ten Commandments that he receives and there is a hole that opens in the earth and it swallows up the wicked. Those who were making the metal image, either there was fire, or they were thrown into the earth, but somehow those that started the idol worship were destroyed. And so Moses speaks with GOD after all this happens. Moses has to speak with GOD and tell GOD Almighty all that is happening. So Moses acts as an intercessor trying to help the people so that they are not further destroyed because their actions were not right. They were not following the commandments of GOD. It just does not make sense that GOD allowed the people to see the marvels and the wonders of GOD Almighty's power and they became faithless in an instant just because Moses did not come down from the mountain at the time that they decided for Moses to come down from the mountain.

The purpose of this blog is the glorification of GOD Almighty, King Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of Truth. We are reminded in the Book of Revelation of the need to persist through faith in the end times of what we know. We are to have belief in the Scriptures. We are to have faith in King Jesus Christ who died on the cross and resurrected on the third day to give us eternal life and who provides the Spirit of Truth. We are able to glorify GOD Almighty above everything in this world. We are reminded in Revelation to not be a part of idolatry and not to take the technological modification.
