Episode: “King Jehoram, Path of the Wicked, and the Belief of Righteousness”

Introduction

Good afternoon! My name is Eduardo. This is Resurrection Radio Podcast. I am your presenter. We spoke of the Book of 2 Chronicles concerning the different kings that were considered righteous. At the same time that there are kings in Judah there are kings in the kingdom of Israel. This is during the time of Rehoboam because of the sin of Solomon and idolatry. We learn about the specific reigns of each king. We learn that there is idolatry for other nations, while the tribe of Judah is able to worship GOD Almighty and the land abounds, the people abound, the kings abounds, and everyone abounds because there is the worship of GOD Almighty.

GOD Almighty's Promises to David

We learn that they forget about GOD Almighty because of the abundance that exists and then there are difficulties in the land. GOD Almighty reminds them that GOD Almighty is providing for these things. We learn that David was able to allow for the people to know that GOD Almighty was who was providing them with good things. With those abundant resources, we have to acknowledge that GOD Almighty is giving good things. In Psalm 89, we are reminded of the promise that GOD Almighty gives to David through the prophet Nathan.

We read about this either in the Book of Samuel, Kings, or Chronicles. Also in the Psalms it is David speaking of the understanding that GOD Almighty was going to bless those that were righteous. GOD Almighty is going to provide for those that are righteous. This allows us to know that GOD Almighty is going to provide for those that are righteous. Moses states about the blessings for Mount Gerazim and difficulties for Mount Ebal for the sins. If they believed in GOD Almighty, there were going to be blessings for the righteous. This is consistent with the Beautitudes that King Jesus Christ later gives in the Gospel.

“Blessed are those who are meek.”

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for the word of GOD Almighty and are righteous.”

These individuals are blessed by GOD Almighty and is consistent with the blessings that are given through Moses. The promises through Abraham and the promises through David. The people were going to be able to persevere. They were going to be able to have eternal remnants and were able to persist. There were going to be kings through David, and they were going to persevere. As long as they believe in GOD Almighty, they are going to abound. Everything is great and everything works out. Whenever there is idolatry, there begins to be difficulties for the nation and the land until they repent. We learn that King Jesus Christ is the eternal King of kings that is the completion of the promises of GOD Almighty to Abraham and Sarah, Moses, and David

We learn that after they repent, there is grace. GOD Almighty is graceful. GOD Almighty delivers them, protects them, and is able to provide for them. This is so that they persevere and increase to new heights. They are able to have good things. In the time of David, this is seen as a time of great things. Because David is that reminder of having faith in GOD Almighty. We have to have faith in GOD Almighty regardless of the circumstances. Sometimes when there are difficulties, we are reminded to praise GOD Almighty.

Praising GOD Almighty Through the Difficulties

We still have to praise GOD Almighty through the difficulties because GOD Almighty is going to lead us through the difficulties with the help the Spirit of Truth. Also when there is prosperity, making sure that we persevere to praise GOD Almighty through the prosperity. We still have to worship GOD Almighty, we still have to glorify GOD Almighty, and we still have to obey the commandments. We have to persist honoring GOD Almighty. We know that the last thing that we spoke about was King Jehoshaphat. The only negative thing spoken about King Jehoshaphat was that he entered into an alliance to help King Ahab. King Ahab was having difficulty with the surrounding nations, and GOD Almighty was causing that to happen. Because there was so much difficulty, he goes to the kingdom of Judah to get the favor of GOD Almighty and quite possibly cause difficulties for King Jehoshaphat.

The interesting thing is that GOD Almighty delivers King Jehoshaphat from that and is able to offer the discipline and the reproof that is the promise to David. If they do not obey the commandments, they would have reproof and they would again begin to receive instruction and choose to worship GOD Almighty. King Jehu tells King Jehoshaphat that he is not supposed to help the wicked. There is that reminder when King Jehoshaphat goes into an alliance with another wicked king of Israel, we learn that the ships do not prosper. They are not used for navigating.

We learn that GOD Almighty destroyed the ships. GOD Almighty is in control of everything. We learn that for King Jehoshaphat there is reproof, but GOD Almighty is able to save him because he is righteous. King Jehoshaphat is considered righteous for all the reformations that he is doing throughout the land in order to provide for the people to know that GOD Almighty is to be worshiped. We learn that King Jehoshaphat is spared from the wicked and told to not help the wicked.

We read that King Jehoshaphat's son is considered wicked. The king within the kingdom of Judah does not obey the word of GOD Almighty. Previous kings may have been considered to have reproof but were not considered wicked. There is repenting and understanding that GOD Almighty is great. That is the understanding that GOD Almighty is the GOD of gods. Some of the kings forget about the word of GOD Almighty because of the examples that they see in other nations or they trust in the things of the world, or because of other specific reasons. In this reason, we try to understand why there was wickedness in that king.

The Path of the Wicked and GOD Almighty Providing Grace

“And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead. And he had brethren the sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariahu, and Michael, and Shephatiah; all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel. And their father gave them great gifts, of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fortified cities in Judah; but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram, because he was the first-born.”- 2 Chronicles 21: 1-3

We read that Jehoshaphat's reign had minimal difficulties that happened, GOD Almighty told King Jehoshaphat not to make alliances with the wicked. Even through this, King Jehoshaphat was able to obtain great resources, protection, and was able to persevere. We learn that King Jehoshaphat is able to provide for the inheritance of the kingdom to one of his children. Not only that but they are provided material resources and fortified cities in Judah. This is telling us that King Jehoshaphat through righteousness was able to garner material possessions and great things secondary to the worship of GOD Almighty.

All of these things are given to Jehoshaphat because he made sure to worship GOD Almighty over everything. This is the reminder of what King Jesus Christ tells us.

“Seek first the kingdom of Heaven, and everything else will be added.”- Matthew 6:33

This is seen in those examples. We worship GOD Almighty first, and GOD Almighty provides. Through what GOD Almighty provides, we are supposed to worship GOD Almighty and give GOD Almighty the praise. That is the understanding. King Jehoshaphat had great wealth, great possessions, and fortified cities in the kingdom of Judah.

“Now when Jehoram was risen up over the kingdom of his father, and had strengthened himself, he slew all his brethren with the sword, and divers also of the princes of Israel. Jehoram was thirty and two years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. ”

We try to understand what was the reason for the wickedness to exist in Jehoram. We do know that the kings of Judah were seen as walking in righteousness. It is only through the negative examples that they begin to practice idolatry or sin. That is when we begin to see the difficulties. The kingdom is established to David and then is given to Solomon. Solomon has a wealth of wisdom and understanding that GOD Almighty provides and is able to show us through the Proverbs. There is the importance of obeying the commandments and honoring the word of GOD Almighty.

Commandments and Statutes to Keep the Faith

Through the acknowledging of the commandments, all of these good things are received initially when not practicing idolatry. We learn that Solomon swerves because of the wives and the convenience and things of the world that lead to the forsaking of the worship of GOD Almighty. We do know that Rehoboam deals with the idolatry of Solomon when the kingdom is split. We learn that he is given two tribes including Judah and Benjamin. GOD Almighty establishes Rehoboam's kingdom, and he is able to grow and prosper. When Rehoboam forgets GOD Almighty, there are difficulties and GOD Almighty decides to be graceful.

When Rehoboam atones for that and is humble, GOD Almighty is able to raise him up and provide for Rehoboam. The nation of Judah becomes mighty. We do know that after that there is King Abijam, King Asa, and then King Jehoshaphat who are considered righteous. They go to GOD Almighty, and GOD Almighty is able to deliver them. They make reformations in the land so that there is no more idol worship. There was the removal of the high places so that they do not commit idolatry. There is either reformations made for the temple to be improved upon, and they make sure that in the land the people are understanding the word of GOD Almighty.

We learn that the priests and the Levites go and minister to the people of Judah and even to other tribes. They teach them the law and the word of GOD Almighty. There are the judges in King Jehoshaphat's time that are peacemakers that are able to resolve questions or misunderstandings so that there are resolutions and peace. We know that there is that understanding in that time. During the time period of Rehoboam to the time of Jehoshaphat, the people were able to have peace and have abundance because they trusted in GOD Almighty to provide for them.

We learn that there is a stark contrast. Why is Jehoram deciding to go against the belief of GOD Almighty? We learn that there is a marriage alliance between the son of Jehoshaphat and the daughter of Ahab. We do know that Ahab is considered wicked and from that wicked example from the daughter of Ahab we see that he begins to commit wickedness because of the daughter of Ahab. We read that the name of David signifies great faith in an individual. We know that it symbolizes faith and the belief in GOD Almighty.

When we read that there are wicked individuals, we read that they are described as Ahab. This is the description that means that the individual is wicked.

“And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab; for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife; and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD. Howbeit the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that He had made with David, and as He promised to give a lamp to him and to his children.”

We know that the name of David is used to describe the righteous kings from the kingdom of Judah. Then we learn that Jehoram is walking in the path of Ahab in the manner of idolatry similar to the kings of Israel. This is telling us of that description of wickedness. For the daughter of Ahab was his wife. We learn that the daughter of Ahab is who is leading him to commit idolatry and all the evil. We learn that when GOD Almighty was telling the people not to marry foreign wives, it was not because of ethnicity. The reason was because there were false idol worship and other belief systems that would cause the individuals to commit idolatry.

Idolatry Leads to Difficulties While the Statutes and Commandments Lead to Protection

The thing is that there are other belief systems of the world that are not consistent with the belief of GOD Almighty. The beliefs of the world want to teach things that are in opposition to the things of GOD Almighty. There may be some belief systems that may be positive and be able to work with the Scriptures, but first we have to give priority to the Scriptures over everything else. What we learn is that there are different belief systems. From the princesses and the wives of the nations like Solomon's wives had their own religion and their own beliefs. There is that difficulty in reconciling the belief system that was going to be believed.

We learn that Ahab was the king of Israel, and GOD Almighty was providing for him again the manner that he was going to be king. We see that Jezebel led Ahab to practice wickedness and also the nation of Israel to not believe in GOD Almighty. This is because of the wife. This is similar to reading of the times of Ahab with the daughter of Ahab caused Jehoram to not obey the word of GOD Almighty. We learn that he did evil in the sight of the LORD. We also read that GOD Almighty did not decide to destroy the house of David because of the promises to David. GOD Almighty had promised to give a lamp to David and to his children.

We learn that there is this difficulty where this is the wicked king of Judah. Solomon started good until idolatry. We learn that Jehoram is wicked because he goes against his own brothers. Why is that? Because the philosophies of the world want there to be enmity, strife, and all those negative emotions. That is the only reason for that. We know that the things of GOD Almighty allow for peace for individuals. If we acknowledge GOD Almighty over everything, we are going to honor GOD Almighty and respect the creation and persevere moving forward.

There was that understanding of why this individual was committing great wickedness against his own brothers? Even going against his own people? Not only brothers but also against other individuals within Judah? The daughter of Ahab had those false belief systems. Maybe, it is interesting because King Jehu is used to rebuke King Jehoshaphat about making alliances with Ahab when he goes to battle with Ahab. Ahab disguises himself and tries to not be seen, but for Jehoshaphat he does not tell him to disguise himself and instead tells him to go into battle. The people think that Jehoshaphat is Ahab, and Jehoshaphat calls out to GOD Almighty. GOD Almighty protects Jehoshaphat. Ahab does not make it.

We read from this specific example that it is the daughter of Ahab that could have led Jehoram to practice iniquity. Instead of listening to the word of GOD Almighty, there is the following of wickedness. We know that was the reason for the statutes that GOD Almighty made for the kings of Judah of not having multiple foreign wives and also for the people. The reason was because they were going to try to turn their hearts away from GOD Almighty. That is what happens for Solomon and that is what happens for Jehoram. For Christian believers, this is not based on ethnicity. This is based on belief. There are Christian believers from all ethnicities that believe in King Jesus Christ. There is nothing wrong with that. It is those false beliefs that are not compatible with Christianity that can cause difficulties and prevent people from believing in the Scriptures and obey the word of GOD Almighty.

We are reminded in the Book of Revelation of the need to persist through faith in the end times of what we know. We are to have belief in the Scriptures. We are to have faith in King Jesus Christ who died on the cross and resurrected on the third day to give us eternal life and who provides the Spirit of Truth. We are able to glorify GOD Almighty above everything in this world. We are reminded in Revelation to not be a part of idolatry and not to take the technological modification.
