Episode: “King Jehoshaphat, Reforms, and Prayer”

Introduction

Good afternoon! My name is Eduardo. This is Resurrection Radio Podcast. I am your presenter. We spoke of the Book of 2 Chronicles which speaks about the reign of King Asa. The specific understanding that King Asa is considered righteous and is able to provide reform for the land for the people to understand that GOD Almighty is to be worshiped. All the idol worship and those beliefs that were not of GOD Almighty were meant to be forsaken. That is what happens that in the tribes of Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon, there are individuals that decide to believe in GOD Almighty, and they go to Jerusalem and believe in GOD Almighty.

The Kingdom of Judah Worships GOD Almighty

The temple is there, the glorification of GOD Almighty is happening there, there is faith, there are the priests of GOD Almighty. In the countries of Israel there was the false idol worship. Those individuals from other tribes that see the signs and wonders that are happening under King Asa in Judah, they go and join to worship GOD Almighty. They praise GOD Almighty for everything that they are seeing. The land is abounding, they are being reinforced, and they have peace. For thirty five years, they have peace in the land with King Asa.

It is not until the thirty sixth year that there are difficulties because of not believing in GOD Almighty and not have the faith in GOD Almighty through the decisions of King Asa. There is that difficulty but there is discipline and reproof. They did not have extended difficulties. There is reproof and we learn that after all these things King Jehoshaphat reigns in the place of King Asa. For the most part, the reign of King Asa is seen positively because the idol worship is forsaken, the people get rid of the idols, and the people begin to worship GOD Almighty.

There is so much time of peace because GOD Almighty is providing for that. This is because of the worship that they are providing for GOD Almighty. Because they have this zealous worship for GOD Almighty, they decide to worship GOD Almighty over everything in this life. They were deciding to worship GOD Almighty with all their soul, all their might, and all their being, all their energy, all their wisdom, and all their understanding, and all their faith, and we learn that the land abounds.

This is similar to the time of Hezekiah, this is similar to the time of Solomon initially. We see that when GOD Almighty is worshiped, everything improves. King Asa decides to not consult with GOD Almighty to know what to do against the kingdom of Bashaa that attacks Judah. Since he resolved with money instead of going to GOD Almighty, it is not seen as positive. We learn from a prophet or seer that there would be difficulties for not consulting GOD Almighty.

GOD Almighty sees everything and offers strong support to those whose heart is blameless towards GOD Almighty. GOD Almighty cares for the righteous. There is that distinction that GOD Almighty was going to provide for them. They did not have to place their attention and trust to the things of the world because GOD Almighty was going to be with them. GOD Almighty was going to provide for them because GOD Almighty can provide.

King Jehoshaphat Begins to Lead Judah

We learn that King Jehoshaphat is able to reign when he inherits the kingdom from King Asa. Compared to King Asa, King Jehoshaphat began to strengthen himself and Judah. There was peace and now they have to strengthen themselves against other nations and even Israel.

“And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel. And he placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken. And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David”

This is a reminder that the kings of the south were walking in the path of righteousness and were considered to follow the belief like David. David symbolizes the faith of the individual. They were believing in the word of GOD Almighty over everything. When they were believing in GOD Almighty over everything, that was when great wonders and signs happened. Not because of the wonders and signs, but because the glorification of GOD Almighty is important. GOD Almighty was with Jehoshaphat and that is why everything abounds. GOD Almighty who helps the nations like Judah, who helps the individual like we read for King Asa and King Jehoshaphat.

“And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David.”- 2 Chronicles 17: 1-5

When there are no difficulties, this is because they are worshiping GOD Almighty.

The Kingdom of Judah Has Reformations

“And sought not unto the Baalim; but sought to the God of his father, and walked in His commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.”

At the specific time we know what is happening for the kingdom of Judah, but we also know about what is happening in the kingdom of Israel. It is important to know the distinction for the righteous example, and then we can talk about the other examples. Although, we have seen and read about Ahab and that specific understanding. We are going to read that again through the specific story of Jehoshaphat because Judah was believing in GOD Almighty, they have everything. They did not seek the idol worship. They did not seek to worship idols. But they looked to worship GOD Almighty and the GOD of his fathers. The GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. GOD Almighty the father of King Jesus Christ. GOD Almighty, King Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of Truth. They decided to walk in His commandments and statutes.

Maybe that was why King Asa had those difficulties because he decided to not follow the commandments, keep the Sabbaths, and statutes. As individuals we have to obey the word of GOD Almighty. This does not mean we are perfect, there is sometimes sin of omission or commission, but there is the example given to repent and obey the word of GOD Almighty. First, we seek GOD Almighty to persevere. The kingdom of Judah worshiped GOD Almighty and did not follow the practices of the kingdom of Israel. They believed in GOD Almighty and obeyed the commandments and did not practice idolatry.

We read that Israel was practicing idolatry from the beginning. We read about how Jeroboam causes Israel to sin by instituting the worship of the golden calves and banishing or exiling the prophets of GOD Almighty. The prophets of GOD Almighty leave to Judah. This only strengthens Judah. For the people of Israel, this only causes them to have a false belief system that does not allow them to prosper. We read about that in the descriptions.

“Therefore the LORD established the kingdom in his hand”

Because King Jehoshaphat decides to obey GOD Almighty and not follow idols, the LORD established the kingdom of Judah in the hand of King Jehoshaphat. There is that description of why the people are able to establish themselves in the land, in the kingdom, and have abundance, this is because of the worship of GOD Almighty.

“And all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.”

So again, not only did King Jehoshaphat believe in GOD Almighty, but there were great riches and honor added to that. We read that Solomon asks for wisdom. Solomon is given wisdom and then riches and honor are added to that.

“And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD”

King Jehoshaphat decided to obey the purpose of GOD Almighty. That is what we read for King Asa when the prophet Azariah tells him.

“Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.”

There is that reminder of being courageous in the word of GOD Almighty and persevering to prophesy, preach, and glorify GOD Almighty. That is what King Jehoshaphat does. King Jehoshaphat decides to worship GOD Almighty over everything. His heart was courageous. His intentions were to glorify GOD Almighty, his actions were to glorify GOD Almighty, and his words were to glorify GOD Almighty. The intentions are positive and rooted in Scripture and the word of GOD Almighty, then the actions and the words are also going to be positive. They are going to worship GOD Almighty over everything.

“And furthermore he took away the high places and the Asherim out of Judah.”

King Jehoshaphat Sends Officials and Priests to Preach and Teach the Scriptures Similar to King Jesus Christ Sending the Disciples and Apostles

We learn that King Jehoshaphat removed the idols from Judah. King Jehoshaphat made sure to get rid of the high places and to get rid of the false idols that were in Judah.

“Also in the third year of his reign he sent his princes, even Ben-hail, and Obadiah, and Zechariah, and Nethanel, and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah; and with them the Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tob-adonijah”- 2 Chronicles 17: 7-9

This is further reform that is happening in the land. The initial reform was through King Asa that was going to remove idol worship from the high places and make sure that the people were going to the temple. They repaired the temple and a specific section of the house of the LORD. Then we learn that officials are sent that are able to teach in the cities. It is not only that they go to the temple but also that it is similar to the disciples and apostles. There is that understanding that is very similar.

The Book of the Prophets is not different from the Gospel. For the time being, they may seem different but there are similarities because GOD Almighty is the same GOD of both the Book of the Prophets and the Gospel that wants us to know the word of GOD Almighty. We are supposed to know the word of GOD Almighty not only in the Book of the Prophets, but also in the New Testament and Revelation. There is so much referencing from the New Testament to the Book of the Prophets and the Book of Moses.

We learn that the officials and the priests were supposed to preach in the cities of Judah. They go to those cities and they teach. Why is this decided? They are instructing the law like Moses instructed the law. This is the same instructing that Joshua provided for the people to remind them of the abundance of the promises of GOD Almighty and the difficulties if they forsook GOD Almighty. This is the reminder of Mount Gerazim that was meant to describe the abundance of GOD Almighty for the people when they were righteous. They were reading the Scriptures and the Book of Moses. They were reminded of the blessings and abundance from obeying the Scriptures. They were also reminded of the difficulties if they decided to not obey the word of GOD Almighty.

There is that similarity that they were preaching and teaching the Scriptures that was very similar to what the disciples and apostles were doing when King Jesus Christ instructs the disciples and apostles to preach the Scriptures to the surrounding regions of Judea and Samaria and to Judah. That is what is done. This is very similar to what King Jehoshaphat institutes. All the people of those cities learn about the word of GOD Almighty. Why does this happen? This is so that people could know the word of GOD Almighty. The word of GOD Almighty provides so much and is a reminder of the presence of GOD Almighty. GOD Almighty is able to give us so much and help us understand the things that are of GOD Almighty. GOD Almighty allows us to move forward.

“The Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests. And they

taught in Judah, having the book of the Law of the LORD with them; and they went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught among the people.”

They were preaching and teaching in the cities of Judah. They taught among the people. Very similar to what Moses did. Very similar to what Joshua did. Very similar to what Peter and Paul did, teaching the word of GOD Almighty to Judah. The people teaching the word of GOD Almighty so that they preach, teach, and glorify GOD Almighty. So that they can persevere, increase, and understand the word of GOD Almighty. That is what is done. There is that reminder of that reform. There was the temple, but at that time there was the teaching of the word of GOD Almighty like the disciples and apostles were sent by King Jesus Christ to preach the word of GOD Almighty.

The purpose of this blog is the glorification of GOD Almighty, King Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of Truth. We are reminded in the Book of Revelation of the need to persist through faith in the end times of what we know. We are to have belief in the Scriptures. We are to have faith in King Jesus Christ who died on the cross and resurrected on the third day to give us eternal life and who provides the Spirit of Truth. We are able to glorify GOD Almighty above everything in this world. We are reminded in Revelation to not be a part of idolatry and not to take the technological modification.
