Synopsis: In this episode of Resurrection Radio Podcast, we learn about the churches that are at the end of the ages. We do not know specifically if these seven churches represent churches at the end times or if they also represented churches at the time of the disciples. We learn that the important message is to pay attention to what King Jesus Christ tells the churches.
We learn that some of the churches were engaging in sin and needed to be reproved. King Jesus Christ also tells us that those who are faithful, zealful, and persevere with faith in King Jesus Christ, they will obtain eternal salvation. We are reminded that GOD Almighty offers repentance of sin in order to obtain eternal salvation. We must remove our sin and live in a lifestyle that is in congruence with GOD Almighty's commandments.
We also learn that King Jesus Christ tells us to have love for GOD Almighty and for humanity. While the end times are characterized by coldness and a lack of love, we are to be reminded of the filial love that we have for GOD Almighty. We also need to have that filial love for humanity. We are to be able to have faith in King Jesus Christ who will guide us with the help of the Spirit of Truth through the difficulties.

Revelation Chapter 2
Introduction
Good afternoon! My name is Eduardo. This is Resurrection Radio Podcast. I am your presenter. We already spoke about Chapter 1 of Revelation. Now we are going to go into Chapter 2 of Revelation. The second chapter begins with the message that King Jesus Christ or an angel of King Jesus Christ was telling John to preach to the Church of Ephesus. We read that this is one of the churches that he was supposed to write about what he saw in a book.
"Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea."- Revelation 1: 11
The disciple is supposed to write what he sees and send it to the churches. These were warnings to the specific churches. The message for some of the churches are similar and for others they are different. For each church, it is specific to each church. We learn that King Jesus Christ states the things that they need to change in the Church of Ephesus and also the good things that they are doing. Those churches did exist at the time of John, the disciple.
There were seven churches in Asia with those specific names. This could be for those churches or it could also represent in the future. In the future, there were specific sins that the people were going to commit like in Israel when there are specific sins that are being committed in the Book of the Prophets. This is reminding us not to sin and to repent of our sins. This is telling us to walk in the path of the righteous so that we obtain eternal salvation instead of the path of the wicked that leads to destruction of the unrepentant wicked. What we learn is that the specific letter sent to Ephesus is to acknowledge what they are doing good in some specific manner and there are some negative things that they need to change.
“To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: 'The words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks among the seven golden lampstands.'”- Revelation 2: 1
We learn that there is an introduction given to each church telling about the words of King Jesus Christ. This is a message that is given to the church. I do not know the interpretation. I just know that it it is a message that is related to the church.
“'I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false.”- Revelation 2: 2
King Jesus Christ states that He knows about what the church was doing and about their works and endurance. We learn about the patient endurance that is spoken through John, the disciple. We learn that the church does not want to know anything about evil like David who only wanted to be in the path of the righteous. This is good. This is King Jesus Christ saying that they have tested those that were called apostles and were not, and found them to be false. We learn that there will be false apostles or false believers or false disciples that say that they believe in King Jesus Christ, but they do not follow with their actions. We learn that there will be temporary lies from false prophets and false individuals.
This is the commendation that they are doing right. They hate evil. They do not partake with evil. This is a specific reminder to us. Whether this is for a specific church in the time of the disciples or apostles or for the future churches, that is very significant. We are not supposed to partake with the workings of evil. We are supposed to speak truth. This is a good thing about that church.
“I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name's sake, and you have not grown weary.”- Revelation 2: 3
This is something that GOD Almighty loves. There are individuals that are enduring and bearing up for the name sake of King Jesus Christ. We learn that King Jesus Christ speaks of a time when we would be hated for the name of King Jesus Christ. We are also supposed to see this as a blessing because Peter says that when we are reviled, hated, and persecuted for the name of King Jesus Christ, our reward is great in Heaven. We learn that the things of the world are perishing. The things of the world are passing away.
“But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first.”- Revelation 2: 4
Here is the reproof. All those things that they were doing in the church were good. They had abandoned the filial love. What did I talk about? This is relevant to today. The world is trying to make people not have a heart of flesh, but to have a heart of stone. There is all this division that we hear on the news and in society. I understand that individuals see what is happening, and they pick a side and they choose. The division is fabricated so that individuals are arguing and fighting against each other when GOD Almighty does not call us to division.
We learn that King Jesus Christ says that He brought division between those that were believers and non-believers. This was meant to cause the separation between those that were righteous and those that were wicked. This is so that we can see that there are two paths. The path of the righteous and the path of the wicked. That is why the prophets were sent to tell the people to repent of their sin. This is to follow the path of righteousness and to avoid the path of the wicked. King Jesus Christ causes division so that we can see who do we obey. Do we obey GOD Almighty or do we not obey GOD Almighty? We learn that there is division that is trying to be caused within society based on false and negative information to see society be at odds with each other for no reason.
We read that for some of the people in that church, they do not love and are going through what King Jesus Christ says in the Gospel of the love of individuals growing cold at the end of the ages. King Jesus Christ is telling them to change and have filial love while protecting themselves from practicing sin.
“Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent. Yet this you have: you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of GOD.'- Revelation 2: 4-7
There is a description of all the positive things that they were doing, preaching, having endurance, and separating themselves from those that are evil. Testing those to see if they were true apostles or not. This is to separate themselves from those that are evil from the false apostles. They are enduring patiently and all of this is for the name of King Jesus Christ. We learn that they needed to have the filial love that King Jesus Christ exemplifies for the world. There are some churches that this message is relevant in today's world. This is so that we are not like the Pharisees. We are supposed to obey the commandments and still have filial love. There has to be filial love.
King Jesus Christ is saying to repent and do the works that they did at first. They have to change and persevere with filial love. This is talking about a filial love that individuals are able to love GOD Almighty and love humanity. If they do not repent, we learn that King Jesus Christ will remove their lampstand from their place. King Jesus Christ has the authority to give or to remove those blessings. Another thing that was good was that they hated the works of the Nicolaitans.
The Nicolaitans were a specific philosophy that wanted to mix Christianity with other pagan beliefs that were not consistent with Scripture. So they tried to have part Christianity and part false philosophies. They were not devoted a hundred percent to the worship of GOD Almighty. We learn that that church hates the works of the Nicolaitans because it is not consistent with Scripture. King Jesus Christ tells us like He tells Israel, those who have an ear to hear. We have to listen to the words of King Jesus Christ.
For those that obey the Word in Scripture of King Jesus Christ, they are able to eat from the tree of life. This is the tree of life that is going back to the Book of Genesis. This is the tree of life that also exists in Paradise. That was the tree that Adam and Eve were not allowed to eat from after they were thrown out from Paradise. We know that for those that are true believers who choose to obey the words of King Jesus Christ and incorporate the filial love that King Jesus Christ is saying is needed, they will have eternal life. There are churches that are doing good works. If the individuals do not have filial love, GOD Almighty wants individuals to have filial love. This is speaking about King Jesus Christ who is infinite grace and infinite love.
Those who listen to the Word of King Jesus Christ and obey King Jesus Christ, they are able to eat from the tree of life. They will be in Paradise. They are going to have eternal life in the Paradise of GOD Almighty. For this church, there were positive things and the only thing that they lacked was filial love. This is not only telling us about that church, but King Jesus Christ tells us that at the end of the ages, the filial love of individuals was going to grow cold. This is because of the temporary lies and deception that the world is telling individuals.
We are not supposed to pay attention to the temporary lies and the deception and the division. We are supposed to be prioritizing and paying attention to the eternal truth. We are supposed to be paying attention to the examples of Scripture. We are supposed to place our attention to the blessings that GOD Almighty gives through King Jesus Christ. We learn that there is another message to another church.
“And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: 'The words of the first and the last, who died and came to life.'”- Revelation 2: 8
After each introduction to the church, King Jesus Christ gives a description of who King Jesus Christ is. This is before stating what needs to change.
Who is the first and the last? The Alpha and the Omega. King Jesus Christ. Who died and came back to life. Who died in the crucifixion and Resurrected on the third day? King Jesus Christ.
“I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich) and the slander of those who say that they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.”- Revelation 2: 9
We learn the positive again. They are going through tribulation which is something that Christians go through, but we know that GOD Almighty is with us and provides for us. When we trust in King Jesus Christ, there is no fear because we believe in the promises of King Jesus Christ. We learn that there may be poverty because of the difficulties that they have been going through. We know that is one of the methods that evil attempts to harm individuals. We learn that even while the Christians are going through difficulties in the material, GOD Almighty is saying that they are rich.
GOD Almighty is telling us that they are rich because they are given spiritual blessings which are greater than the things of the world. We know that some individuals will go through slander or have already gone through slander because of their belief in King Jesus Christ. We know that this is very current of today's times. There are false accusations and slander that have been going around for the past years. We know this is a strategy that evil uses, but we have to be faithful to GOD Almighty. We are to persevere praying and fasting for GOD Almighty to help us against the attacks of the enemy.
We also know from where the attacks are from. That they are Jews and are not. Not everyone who is a Jew is a believer in GOD Almighty. The fulfillments of the promises of GOD Almighty are through faith. If an individual is Jewish, those blessings of GOD Almighty are not actualized just by being Jewish. The blessings of GOD Almighty are actualized by having faith. We know that there will be those that will say that they are Jews but they actually work for the enemy.
“Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation.”- Revelation 2: 10
For this church, we know that there will be individuals that are going to be placed in detention. King Jesus Christ also gives the solution. “Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
“Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will not be hurt by the second death.”- Revelation 2: 10-11
For the first church, we do not know the specific tribulation that they are going through. In the second church, we do know that they will be detained, but even that amount is only until a point when they gain their eternal life. Even if they are killed, the individuals will have eternal salvation. We learn that GOD Almighty gives the crown of life. We learn that King Jesus Christ says, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will not be hurt by the second death.” If individuals are persecuted, there will be the manner that they will obtain eternal life. This is one of the examples of when there is persecution.
Then there is the third church.
“And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write: 'The words of him who has the sharp two-edged sword.'”- Revelation 2: 12
Who has a two-edged sword? King Jesus Christ.
“I know where you dwell, where Satan's throne is. Yet you hold fast my name, and you did not deny my faith even in the days of Antipas my faithful witness, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, so that they might eat food sacrificed to idols and practice sexual immorality.”- Revelation 2: 13-14
We read that in that specific region, it is a stronghold of the enemy. There was an individual who was a believer in King Jesus Christ, Antipas, who was attacked for his belief. Even though there are workers of evil in that region, King Jesus Christ gives solutions. If there are difficulties in that place, there are solutions. We read that in that area there are specific false philosophies like the teachings of Balaam. What is that teaching? “You have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, so that they might eat food sacrificed to idols and practice sexual immorality.” This is talking about the Book of the Prophets, about what was not supposed to be done idolatry and sexual immorality.
“So also you have some who hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans.”- Revelation 2: 15
We learn that there are other false philosophies that exist that are not consistent with Christianity.
“Therefore repent.”-Revelation 2: 16
We know that even though it is a place of evil or has the specific influences through the false philosophies. They are supposed to repent and not partake in these things. This is talking to the need to worship, praise, and glorify GOD Almighty over everything. This is meaning that Christianity is not compatible with idol worship and sexual immorality. King Jesus Christ does not like that, and He is reproving that church.
King Jesus Christ tells them that they need to repent. If they do not repent, we learn what happens.
“If not, I will come to you soon and war against them with the sword of my mouth.”- Revelation 2: 16
King Jesus Christ is telling the individuals to repent because King Jesus Christ will conquer. The believers that are practicing false philosophies need to repent or else King Jesus Christ is going to count those individuals with the non-believers. King Jesus Christ is going to war against those that are non-believers. That is what King Jesus Christ is saying.
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, with a new name written on the stone that no one knows except the one who receives it.'”- Revelation 2: 17
The hidden manna and the white stone symbolize something else. Those that are righteous are not only going to get manna and also a white stone. A white stone meant that there was ownership of something. Hidden manna is bread from heaven. This is spiritual bread or the bread from Heaven that King Jesus Christ gave. The individuals who conquer are going to receive their eternal salvation. Individuals are going to conquer based on the blood of the Lamb and the word of His testimony. If we conquer based on that, we are able to receive eternal life. In the previous churches, we know that those that conquer are able to receive the crown of life. The crown of life symbolizes eternal life. Hidden manna could mean bread from Heaven, spiritual nurturing. The white stone is indicative of ownership of something. Ownership of property meaning the individual has entry into the Kingdom of Heaven. I am not sure if this is the actual interpretation, this is possible.
Those things symbolize rewards. Those rewards symbolize something. The white stone means entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven. This is the manner that they can enter the Kingdom of Heaven through their righteousness. This is similar to the crown of life meaning that they have won the race. They have won their life. The stone can symbolize that they can enter into Heaven.
“And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: 'The words of the Son of GOD, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and whose feet are like burnished bronze.'”- Revelation 2: 18
Who is this talking about? King Jesus Christ. King Jesus Christ is telling us how He is called. The Son of GOD. King Jesus Christ is called the Son of GOD. This is consistent with the Book of the Prophets and the Gospel. “Who has eyes like a flame of fire.” We were already introduced to that description in Revelation. We also read that “and whose feet are like burnished bronze.” We read that this is talking to the Majesty, Splendor, and Glory of King Jesus Christ Ezekiel 40:3. This is to the church of Thyatira and is the fourth church.
“I know your works, your love and faith and service and patient endurance, and that your latter works exceed the first.”- Revelation 2: 19
We learn that this church has great things that are going for the church. There is love, faith, service, and patient endurance. We learn that the works that they were doing were even greater than the previous works that they had done.
“But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols. I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality.”- Revelation 2: 20-21
This is the negative. For this church, they are doing great things except for tolerating that woman Jezebel. We have already talked about Jezebel and Ahab and how they are considered wicked individuals. We learn that there will be false apostles, false disciples, or false prophets that are spoken and who do not believe in King Jesus Christ. We read about the works of the Nicolaitans who are trying to practice Christianity with other false beliefs. Or the works of Balaam who taught Balak to put a stumbling block to the sons of Israel so that they could practice idol worship and sexual immorality.
These are four philosophies that are not positive. Scripture is telling us that we have to be careful with false philosophies. For this specific church, we learn that Jezebel has the same deceitfulness, bitterness, and evil that exists within certain individuals who are not believers of GOD Almighty. She calls herself a prophetess. The individual is serving in the church of GOD Almighty but does not believe. We learn that there are prophetesses in the Scriptures like Miriam the sister of Moses and other individuals. There is nothing wrong with prophetesses as long as they prioritize and obey the commandments and Scriptures of GOD Almighty. We learn that this individual is wicked because not only is she placing herself in a position of leadership, but also she is “teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols.”
This is the same understanding that there may be wicked individuals or different false philosophies. The sin is the same that there is sexual immorality and food sacrificed to idols. GOD Almighty is telling us not to partake in that because GOD Almighty says this is sin and repeats the need to forsake sin. This is the negative of those churches. Through the false philosophies, individuals decide to practice sexual immorality and idol worship. GOD Almighty does not like that.
“I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality.”- Revelation 2: 21
I guess that she is engaging in sin and allowing individuals to think that sexual immorality is tolerable. That is not tolerable. We learn that GOD Almighty gives that individual time to repent. But she refuses to repent.
“Behold, I will throw her onto a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her I will throw into great tribulation, unless they repent of her works, and I will strike her children dead.”- Revelation 2: 22-23
We know that GOD Almighty has the manner to give life or to remove life. So again, that individual has been given grace but does not want to repent. Those who commit adultery with her are committing sexual immorality and will be thrown into great tribulation. Those individuals that commit adultery are going to go through difficulties. Unless there is repentance of sin, we read that those individuals are going to go through difficulty.
We learn that there is the need to stop the sins that were happening, but we are also told that King Jesus Christ is going to “strike her children dead.” This can have two interpretations. This could mean her literal children that are stricken, or Scripture could be telling us that those that partake in those things will be stricken. Just like there are children of GOD Almighty, we know that this could be talking about children of evil. I am not sure about the interpretation, but there is that understanding that King Jesus Christ will strike those down. Those children may be those that are committing adultery and sin.
“And all the churches will know that I am he who searches mind and heart, and I will give to each of you according to your works.”- Revelation 2: 23
We learn that King Jesus Christ is telling us that there will be great tribulation for those who commit those evil practices. This is for those that are committing wickedness, unless they repent. Those that continue and practice those teachings rather than the teachings of GOD Almighty, then they will be struck down by King Jesus Christ. I do not know which of the two. There are consequences to forsaking the Word of GOD Almighty. Those are the consequences of sin. I do not know specifically who the children are. I do not if they are physical or those who are committing sin. Sin leads to destruction.
Who searches hearts and minds? GOD Almighty, King Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of Truth together are the True GOD Almighty. We learn that there is good if our intentions are good to the glorification of GOD Almighty. We learn that if the intention is to sin and continue practicing sin, then that leads to destruction.
“But to the rest of you in Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not learned what some call the deep things of Satan, to you I say, I do not lay on you any other burden.”- Revelation 2: 24
We learn that there are false philosophies that are not of GOD Almighty so we do not have to learn about those false philosophies. These are different philosophies that are not of GOD Almighty. These false philosophies are contrary to what GOD Almighty says. They are going to say that not obeying GOD Almighty is allowed when we know that is not allowed. There is not a burden but knowing that they are not to practice sin or practicing false philosophies that are not consistent with Scripture.
“Only hold fast what you have until I come.”-Revelation 2: 25
We know that we are reminded that the righteous have to hold on to their faith. There is that reminder to hold to our belief. Hold to the good works. That is what we are supposed to keep.
“The one who conquers and who keeps my works until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron, as when earthen pots are broken in pieces, even as I myself have received authority from my Father. And I will give him the morning star. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”- Revelation 2: 26-29
For this part, we read that King Jesus Christ is telling righteous believers to persevere having faith until King Jesus Christ returns. Hold fast what? Those who keep the works of King Jesus Christ until the end need to hold fast to their faith in GOD Almighty. What are we supposed to hold? The works of GOD Almighty, the good works, the belief, the faith, all the things that are of GOD Almighty. All the things that GOD Almighty has instructed us to obey, the commandments, preaching the Word of GOD Almighty, and having faith. That is what we learn in the next sentence.
To those that follow the path of life, King Jesus Christ is going to give authority over the nations. Whoever is following in the path of life will receive authority over the nations. We learn about the judgment that prophets are able to preach. We learn about the judgment that apostles do. We learn about the judgment that disciples are able to preach. We learn the judgment that believers can do based on the power of King Jesus Christ. When there is the persecution of Christians, there is the persecution of King Jesus Christ. King Jesus Christ gives us authority if we follow and obey the Word in Scripture of GOD Almighty.
We know that those are the two differences that exist. Not only that those who obey the Scriptures of GOD Almighty get eternal salvation in the next life, we also learn that in this life, King Jesus Christ is able to provide blessings for those that obey GOD Almighty. We read about the crown of life that symbolizes eternal life, the white stone that gives entrance into Heaven telling us that the individual has gained eternal life, and the hidden manna represents spiritual nurturing through the bread of Heaven. We learn that GOD Almighty allows us to enter the Kingdom of Heaven and have eternal life if we obey what GOD Almighty says.
For the church of Thyatira, the reward is very specific. King Jesus Christ is going to give authority over the nations. This is talking about the authority that King Jesus Christ has over the nations. King Jesus Christ is giving authority to righteous believers over the nations. King Jesus Christ is going to allow faithful believers to rule with a rod of iron. We know that King Jesus Christ has a rod of iron that He uses to rule the nations. King Jesus Christ is portrayed as having a rod of iron meaning He provides discipline and reproof. We also learn that there is the description of the rod of iron being able to cause “as when earthen pots are broken in pieces”. This is speaking of the authority that GOD Almighty gives to King Jesus Christ.
This happens because King Jesus Christ decided to obey the Word of GOD Almighty and was resurrected on the third day. “As I myself have received authority from my Father.” King Jesus Christ is given the Authority, Dominion, Splendor, Majesty, Sovereignty, Strength, Wisdom, and Power because He obeyed GOD Almighty unlike Adam. Through King Jesus Christ, everyone can have eternal salvation if they choose to believe in King Jesus Christ. This is if we decide to obey the Word of GOD Almighty and have zealous faith in King Jesus Christ. King Jesus Christ has authority, and King Jesus Christ gives authority to believers to persevere to rule like King Jesus Christ has been ruling since the resurrection.
When King Jesus Christ returns from the clouds, that is when He is going to judge. King Jesus Christ is going to give righteous believers the manner that they can rule with a rod of iron. King Jesus Christ says that He is going to give the morning star. King Jesus Christ calls himself the morning star in Revelation. King Jesus Christ tells us of the manner that He is described and will provide for the righteous. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” King Jesus Christ is telling those that are hearing to pay attention to the importance of the message. This message is from the Spirit of Truth. This is the fourth church that is described. We learn that there are positive things of the churches and negative things. The consistent thing is that the message can be applicable for believers. King Jesus Christ is reproving sin.

The purpose of this blog is the glorification of GOD Almighty, King Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of Truth. We are reminded in the Book of Revelation of the need to persist through faith in the end times of what we know. We are to have belief in the Scriptures. We are to have faith in King Jesus Christ who died on the cross and resurrected on the third day to give us eternal life and who provides the Spirit of Truth. We are able to glorify GOD Almighty above everything in this world. We are reminded in Revelation to not be a part of idolatry and not to take the technological modification.
